Cicada Markets Hua Hin

Post by Dieter78 »

I visited this place last night for the first time with my wife. Great place and not far from us.

It's quite a big place consisting of a nice night market (looks more upmarket than regular markets) along with a big food area (coupons). It's got a nice ambiance with lights hanging in the overhead trees and plenty to see. Also to be found a small outdoor theatre and a outdoor bar/lounge area which is entertained by a band. Also to see were youngsters performing break dancing near the eatery.

Next door to the Cicada markets is also a regular thai market place selling the usual stuff (food/wares) and a good hair dresser should you need a late night cut.

Open friday - sunday only I believe. 16:00-11:00.

Yes opens from Friday to Sunday. It has been greatly upgraded over the past two years with many more chairs and tables set out.
Get there early, before 6.30 to beat the crush between then and 9.30, however, as the high season winds down the crowds will diminish.
It is just outside the entrance to the Hyatt Hotel, so very easy to find.

All abuzz at Hua Hin’s “Cicada Market”
The Cicada Market has become one of Hua Hin’s top evening attractions for tourists, Thai and foreign alike.

Hua Hin has maintained an easy breezy atmosphere despite the surge in year-round tourism. In the past, this family favourite seaside resort, 3-hours’ drive south of Bangkok, used to have little else except for sea, sand and sun. In recent years, Hua Hin started to develop more “extra-curricular” places where visitors can go when it rains or if they want to partake in more energetic activities.

There was the opening of “Plearn Wan” - a living old town-like village. Today, one of the favourite outdoor places to visit in the evening is the Cicada Market, which is another popularly reviewed destination on TripAdvisor.
