I quite fancy a good night out but this is a net price once service charge and VAT are added that is 1,883 per person, excluding wine or beer, why they don't just advertise that way in the first place I don't understand

I think you'll find that net means the service charge and VAT are included; if it's not, they usually add ++ after the price.

Absolutely correct, the ++ would state that you need to add 17.7% tax and service charge. THB 1,599net means it is including tax and service charge, so you will end up paying that amount.....

THB 1,358.54++ or THB 1,599net

No I believe you are wrong:
CPA Accounting Tools explain the difference as follows:
The gross cost of an item is the sum total of all costs involved in making or acquiring it.
In contrast, the net cost is the gross cost minus financial gains derived from the production or acquisition of the item. Hence the price is as follows:
1,599 + service charge of 10% = 1,758.9 + VAT @ 7% =1,883
1,599 Net is exclusive of service and VAT, this has been covered countless times on other threads.

Intercontinental web site actually states the following for rooms so this would also apply to meals. This is standard accounting practice
TAXES AND SERVICE CHARGES:
Service Charge: 10% per night not included
Tax: 7.7% per night not included

With a bit of luck, whoever posts their adverts will read this page and clarify one way or the other, or as their adverts says "for more information call on +66 (0) 32 616 999 or send an enquiry to ichh.rsvn@ihg.com" not too difficult is it?

Sorry StevePIraq, the price I stated is CORRECT, I know since I work there. However I understand your point regarding net and gross and it took me a while to understand the concept. It is the same in the Middle East with ++ and net. If you check around the resorts in town you will find the same result......

Cheers,
B.

Dear All,

Thank you for your interest in our Beachcomber BBQ tonight - it will be a fantastic evening!

Please allow me to clarify that our price of THB 1,599net is including tax and service charge.

It would be great to see some of the forum members tonight....

Best regards,
InterContinental Hua Hin Resort Team
