Dragon Boat Racing, Huey Mongkol

Post by Big Boy »

I was walking around just now when one of those mobile chicanes drove by. My Thai isn't good, but I'm fairly sure it was advertising Dragon Boat Racing tomorrow.

Does anybody know any more? It's a bit far to go if its not on.

Big Boy , I love your colorful expression for those noise trucks.
I always felt that they were some sort of a way to get
temporary insanity, just by standing on the street as they slowly drove by.
I enjoyed the dragon boat races a few years back, here is a few pictures I took
at the time, I think it was the winter of 2010 to 2011

From my own experience, I still can't understand, how it is possible to have so many rowers in one boat.

Believe me, watching a drunken crew get into a boat from where I was gate crashing a party at Pak Nam Pran last year, was very entertaining.

  I've been in that kind of a crew couple of times myself. The added entertainment was trying to stay on the surface of the water. :D

Went to see it a couple of years back, but just couldn't put up with the volume of the commentary/music..... typical of Thailand, but really was too much - maybe I'm just becoming a grumpy old g!t...... Ruined a good event IMHO.

You should have fired a couple of your rockets across their bows :D

The racing was actually 21st Dec - I couldn't get there that day.
