Without doing any searches, they are different photos of two Rolls Royce cars - one I would guess late 1920's and the other late 1930's. Must be worth a bit, same as most of the other cars on display.prcscct wrote:We should do a mini car challenge on the first 5 photos as I don't know what they are or the year? Pete

Number plate --1777 as follows:
1952 Silver Bronze Rolls Royce, Silver Dawn. The car was first owned by Gen Chao Phraya Ram Rakop (ML Fua Phungbun) who imported it from the United Kingdom in 1975. Chao Phraya Ram Rakop is also the grandfather of Prachin’s wife. With time, the car was sold on to others. Knowing that his wife has fond memories of this car he looked all over to bring it back. When he heard someone was selling a 1952 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn that belonged to Chao Phraya Ram Rakop, he bought it right away. He brought it back to life with red velvet seats and repainted the body black, so his wife could drive it in style. They usually drive to Hua Hin in their leisure time.
edit: owner: Dr Prachin Eamlumnow, president and CEO of Grand Prix International and Bangkok International Motor Show

I'm sorry guys, but I could only do an early shift - had to be somewhere for lunch. You will see the lecturns by each car. If I had been later, these would have had the necessary details, which I would have photographed as well.prcscct wrote:We should do a mini car challenge on the first 5 photos as I don't know what they are or the year? I know it's too late for this year, but this group (posted on my personal Facebook pagr) may be able to help you in the future:a10ams wrote:Sorry folks, I forgot to update.
I went to the Amari and they are doing nothing this year.
So it's all business as usual at the Sofitel / Centara.
I'll be there to have a look at the cars but not paying 20K to let everybody else look at mine.

The other Rolls Royce shown in Big Boys photos is the one with the interesting history.
This is the first time that I have seen this car, and I do not believe it has been back in Thailand
very long, as it was still in the UK in 2010.

^ Be interesting to find out who bought it and brought it back here. It has Royal connections.

There may be some info on one of the club websites, but as most of them are in Thai I cannot read them.
I guess it is just another "Thai way', but none of the info displayed with the cars, mentions the owners. That is the ones that had info on them!
The whole thing a bit of a flop as far as I am concerned. Not many cars, and some of them not what I would call "classic", even if they are well restored. The Thai bloke that appeared to be organising it is a really nice friendly fellow, but one of the stalwarts in the past: "he not come this year". So maybe some conflicts that we are unaware of.
I have seen much better displays of cars in shopping centers in Bangkok, but having said that, both of the venues are outstanding for such an event. The only drawback with Centara is some of the cars were displayed where it was not possible to get close to them, and, this morning at least, were in the shade of trees, etc.
At the Golf Club most of the cars were drawn up in front of the entrance, but 6 or 7 of them were parked on the greens. Neither of the Rolls Royce cars appeared.
The nioce Irish lad manager put a golf cart and driver at my disposal to look at the cars parked on the course. Doubt if any Thai "manager" would have done that!
I have some photos, but not the time to sort them out just yet.

Great pics.
Red 246 Dino Ferrari. I knew a bloke who paid £1200 for one of those in 1973 because it had a bash in the front panel and bonnet. Probably £150-£200k nowadays.
Light blue Ford Mustang looking good.
Gullwing Merc is a legend. So much so that Mercedes relaunched an updated version a few years back. There was a new one at the same show two years ago.
Another Mustang convertible.
The red Lamborghini Espada was a dream car in my spotty youth days.
Early 60's Corvette, could be the one with the split screen?
Had to go to Bangkok yesterday but I'll head down to the Centara right now.
