Post by Farang »

Chess-nuts, anyone?

I have not seen this here yet, so here goes:

Hua Hin Chess enthusiasts have their play-gathering at Datcha Restaurant every Monday,
at 4 PM. Next meeting on the 4th August. Everyone playing or wanting to learn chess is
welcome to these weekly meetings. For blitz-chess proper clocks are provided.

Call for more info: Konstantin or Natalya 0867699187 (English, Russian) or
Robert 0926595305 (English, Swedish) Or e-mail: dachahuahin@gmail.com

Everyone is welcome!

Monday the 11th at 16.00 hrs another chess-meeting. You need not be an expert player. Come on in, they'll teach you the king of games - the game of kings.

I'd be interested in this too, being one who was somewhat competent in the 70's, but hasn't played since.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Do any of you chess-nuts know if you can buy a decent set of pieces (granite/marble/onyx) in Thailand?

Plenty on eBay but high shipping costs and will probably get hammered by customs on arrival.
