Mountain Bike ride this Friday..

Post by usual suspect »

This Friday (1st Feb) some local ex-pats have planned a cycle ride.
It will be mainly off-road on tracks thru' fields of pineapples & aloe-vera.
This ride was due to take place today (Monday), but alas, due to the rain at 8.00ish :( the 10-12 riders decided to postpone till the end of the week.
DETAILS..
* MEETING POINT. Up Soi 88, leave town & go up the hill, past the new condo 'The Peak', go on past the Buddha-shrine at the top of the hill, & about half a K further, we will be at the 'look-out hut' on the left.
The meet time is 8.00am, you will need a mountain bike, 'skinny' tyres will be no good.
This is a steady ride, the hardest/steepest hill is the one you'll tackle to reach the meet-point.
The DISTANCE will be about 50km+
Our route takes us off-road to Majestic Creek Golf Club, then about 15km+ along winding trails in the fields up & behind there amidst nice scenery & millions of pineapples.
Our route meets the road again near the 'Big Buddha X-roads'..from there (after a shop-stop) we'll snake our way back to H.H. along another mix of road & tracks.
The ride is organised by the Hua-Cha Hash Pedallers, & aims to be a social ride not a race.
So, if any of you fancy a rural saunter, while pedalling & chatting away please join us.
(ps..if the hill on Soi 88 is to daunting, then ask the wife to drive you up & leave the cycle & you at the meet point.. :thumb: )
So if 50kms of rural riding sounds good,
then we'll be pleased to have you accompany us..

Mountain Bike Ride

Post by BUSHWHACKER »

Join a group of mountain bike cyclists on a 40-50km off-road dirt track trip which starts near the top of the hill on soi 88, goes west past the bypass, past Wat Mongol and other sights.
A dozen of us met on Monday past but got rained out so we will try again on Friday the 1st of February. Call Chris who recce'd the trail and is our guide.0871700268
This ride is not a 'hashing' event but just a fun ride.

FRIDAY MORNING'S RIDE HAS BEEN CANCELLED..Due to excessive rain around Huay Mongkol part of the trail.
IT IS HOWEVER, RE-SCHEDULED FOR 8.00AM TUESDAY MORNING (Feb 5th).

Cannot believe Hua-Hin's dry season is, at the moment more like a British summer..fine 1 day, then rain the next.. :-(
Sorry if this has messed up any plans, but the trail needs to be dry.
Many thanks & hope to see you all Tuesday morn.. :-)

ONE MORE OFF-ROAD CYCLE-RIDE..On Tuesday 12th Feb. Meeting at the 'Buddha shrine' at the top of Soi 88's hill (on the right as you crest). Be ready to LEAVE at 8.00am. This ride has 4 off-road sections, the terrain is challenging, but rewarding. One section is part of an elephant trail, another is part of the 'King's Cup' route thru' woodland (with ups, downs, soft sand etc,but well marked-out). We will have 2 (or 3 if needed) shop-stops for water etc. Total length is around 38kms.

Is the Full Moon HHH a separate set-up from the already established Hash?
This is the way

The Full Moon will run once a month unless there happens to be a reason for a Blue Moon run and there might be. The Hua Hin Hash House Harriers and the Cha Am Hash House Harriers are seperate from the Full Moon Hash and there are some differences. One of the differences is that the Full Moon Hash will always end at a bar or restaurant with a bar. Another difference is that the Full Moon Hash is free in February and will cost no more than 50 baht per run for the remaining 10 Full Moons of 2013. The Full Moon hash will also sponsor any Blue Moon Hash runs and they will also cost just 50 baht per run. More details to come.

Well the last 'Off-Road' cycle ride I set was quite eventful!..Poor Max tumbled & was taken to hospital within the 1st 10 mins! 2 cycles brokedown, 1 guy managed to go over the handlebars...twice!! So out of the 13 starters.. 3+ hours later the head-count was 4 stalwarts, 1 of the breakdownee's, & myself...all enjoying very cold Leo beer & some nice food..served by a lovely lady at 'Khun Troy's' on Pala-U Rd.
BUT, wait on..It has been requested that we do it again..!!!
So you lot..after slightly ammending the trail, it's looking like a re-run will be taking place
in the week commencing the 25th Feb.. stay tuned folks..?

Anyone want a lift to today's Hash? Cause I need a navigator.............
GN.

"H2H3 run 254. 1 June 2013
Mingster & Dragon Tail Hare a Sleasy Trail.
Slow & Easy.
The run site is in Hupkapong which is just north of the Cha Am traffic signal on Petchkasem by 5 km.
Turn left onto Hupkapong Road, #3203.
Follow Hupkapong Road and begin to pay attention after passing the 6 KM marker as there will be a right turn marked by an H2H3 sign before you reach the 7 KM marker.
After making the right turn at the H2H3 sign, travel about 1.3 KM until you come to an old concrete water storage tank. The CP is about 200 meters past the tank.

Alternate directions for those coming up the bypass: If you wish, you can turn left onto the Springfield Road just after passing the 11 KM marker. Then take the first possible right. You are then on Hupkapong Road. Slow down for a left turn just after passing the 7 KM marker. If you should miss the Springfield Road, take a left just about anywhere between the 11 and the 3 KM markers and you should find yourself on Hupkapong Road.

Please be at the runsite in plenty of time to pay the taxman before he locks the safe and holds the pre-run circle at 1655."

Hi Bushwacker,
yup directions worked out fine in the end and I got an little extra bit of help from Forum Member Usual Suspect. Thank you sir!
I enjoyed the hash and look forward to next time. I work away a lot so you might not see me for long spells but I will return at some point.
I'd like to thank all the Hashers for having me and making me feel very welcome. And a big thanks to the organisers who made the enormous effort to pick the trail and plant all the shredded papers. Must have had a few big bags!!
I must admit; I'm going to have to lay off the treadmill in my 'air-conditioned' gym for a day or too. Legs need a wee rest... :D
I hope it's ok to post these below. I recorded the trail using my iPhone G.P.S.

It was past 8.00 when my little m/bike got me home..my 'dragon' was quite moody by now, & doubting me being out on a Hash at-all..5-5! :duck:
Well done G.N.
