Ao Manao
As a great fan of Ao Manao, I called in for lunch a few days ago. As usual, I took a few snaps:

Re: Ao Manao
Ao Manao is located a few kms (three or four (south-east of Pratchuap Khirikhan, just where the airport is situated.
Around 130 kms. south of Hua Hin.

Re: Ao Manao
From Prahuap town you have to drive across the Air base, including driving across the centre of the main runway, fortunately the airfield is not very busy.
I never made it to the area where the piccies were took, it looks very nice though.

Very sorry DB, the advice given by other members above is of course correct, and I've added an opening paragraph to the Facebook report https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 718&type=1 .Dannie Boy wrote:It looks good BB, but where is Ao Manao in relation to HH?

Re: Ao Manao
Thanks all for the updates, looks like somewhere to take visitors to see outside of the HH area.
Re: Ao Manao
It really is beautiful down there. Reports from the Historical Park, Mirror Glass Mountain & Prachuab itself to follow in the next few days. There's a lot to see and do down there.
I actually wonder how a place like Hua Hin developed so much, while leaving a beautiful place like the 3 Prachuab bays virtually untouched in comparison. Based on appearance alone, I would opt for this area every time.

I guess the King having a summer palace here had something to do with it, as well as the fact that Hua Hin is services by a train station.Big Boy wrote:place like Hua Hin developed so much, while leaving a beautiful place like the 3 Prachuab bays virtually untouched in comparison.
Re: Ao Manao
Had a run down there yesterday and had a great lunch, then onto the Science Park and visited the Aquarium followed by a visit to the boarder post market at Singhorn (sorry about the spelling) and finally Pranburi Dam.
A really full day out with great scenery.
Just over 300 kms of easy driving.

There is a nice train station in Prachuap too, about 300 meters from the sea only, you don't even have to cross the Phetkasem.Pleng wrote:I guess the King having a summer palace here had something to do with it, as well as the fact that Hua Hin is services by a train station.Big Boy wrote:place like Hua Hin developed so much, while leaving a beautiful place like the 3 Prachuab bays virtually untouched in comparison.
For weekenders from BKK, it is probably to far and for foreigners, no shopping centers (only a small Lotus), limited night life (essentially local karaokes).
Wonderful for people looking for a quiet inexpensive way of life.
Re: Ao Manao
The fact there is a small Lotus puts Prachuab way ahead (or should I say behind) of the Hua Hin I first visited.Gérard wrote:no shopping centers (only a small Lotus), limited night life (essentially local karaokes).

I agree, Big Boy, Lotus came recently to Prachuap and I can remember that Huahin was very different 20 years ago...Big Boy wrote:The fact there is a small Lotus puts Prachuab way ahead (or should I say behind) of the Hua Hin I first visited.Gérard wrote:no shopping centers (only a small Lotus), limited night life (essentially local karaokes).
