Is that a new development or something passed generation to generation? If the latter I bet there are stories told by the old local Thais about how and when it all first started. Looks like they're having a blast! :thumb:  Pete

Maybe they are just committing suicide? There is not near enough food up there for all of them.

I don't go up there anymore nor would I take any visiting guests up there just because of those nasty creatures.

I agree. I don't go there and neither would I take anyone up there. People think they are so funny, but once you see firsthand the sort of injuries they can cause when they bite, you have a very different view altogether.

In some parts of South Africa we have large baboon populations, but while they are of course potentially far more dangerous, they mostly keep to themselves. When they do start getting to be a problem, the local authorities cull.

Anyway, good little video clip nonetheless.

If food is really an issue they'll move, like in Lopburi, and begin to occupy the nearest soi where food is available either through charity or theft. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't happened already. I think Lopburi is beyond hope, they just accept them....everywhere! Pete

PS: There was a photo on here not long ago of a big one sitting on a utility pole in downtown HH I believe.

Yes, I saw one a couple of weeks ago stealing fruit from a fruit stall in the Hua Hin Night Market area.

They turn up at the Hyatt Hotel for the Sunday brunch. For some strange reason, the staff find it amusing to see the monkeys taking food form the various buffet items !

We've been for an afternoon stroll around Khao Takiab. We thought it was highly amusing when we spotted monkeys swimming in a water tank. However, we got the shock of our lives when they started tombstoning from the tree branches up above

Apologies for the video losing focus occasionally, but the reflection from the water affected it.
