Golfing in Ao Manao, Prachuab

Post by buksida »

Had a trip down to Ao Manao over the weekend to play the military course there. A few lads came up from Bangsaphan to meet us on neutral ground for the HH vs BS golf tourney.

Course was a little dry but the greens were in relatively good condition.

Some holes are quite picturesque.

Image
This one we dubbed the 'ghost hole' as it wasn't on the score card meaning that the course is actually a ten-hole par 38.

Image
It was quite blustery at times.

You can end up in the sea if you go too far on this one.

Image
Someone managed to find the water, even though it was a dried lake-bed which he managed to get out of ending up with a bogey and winning the hole for the HH team.

Image
A few beers on the beach to round off the day and a victory for the HH team.

The cost for a round is 113 baht plus 20 for the trolley, they have a little range there to practice and a small bar where you can get cheap beer.

If anyone is interested in days out like this we may arrange more, it was a good crack.

A bit of clarification. The 113 THB was for two rounds of nine holes and with the "ghost hole" appearing out of nowhere ( a par 3) the ten holes were par 39. On the scorecard there are two par 3s and two par 5s, so normally total par of 36.
Agree with buksida, it was a good test of golf, especially with the wind. Fairly long as well (3,280 yds). Decent sand in the bunkers (they could have done with a rake over though), greens in fairly good nick, fairways dry and quite sandy in places.
Some good length par 4s - 385/395/430. Par 5s at 485 and 525. Par 3s 135/185.

Excellent pictures.

Can you also tell me, and probably some others, exactly where the course is, please. Thanks.
