The NBTC needs to force TRUE to give them their records indicating what they were paying HBO for the package, and what increase HBO wanted that TRUE declined to pay. That should tell the full story.

I'm of the opinion that the increase was not that large, but TRUE is cash strapped because of the ridiculous 4G licensing fees they have to pay as a result of last year's auctions. Pete

Now, TrueVisions is going to be even more boring and worthless. Sad.
Oh Well, everyone can just watch pre-recorded programs of the Generalissimo 24/7.

TrueVisions to drop Discovery Science and National Geographics, 9 more channels

True Visions plans to drop again 11 pay-TV channels such as Discovery Science and National Geographics after the country's largest subscription-based TV operator has dropped HBO Asia's six movie channels early this year, according to the broadcasting regulator.

Supinya Klangnarong, a member of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), revealed via her twitter account last night that the Broadcasting Committee Tuesday received a request letter from True Visions that the company wanted to discontinue its 11 channels namely Discovery Science, BBC Entertainment, National Geographic, Cbeebies, Discovery Kids, M, DMAX, EVE, Block A, Fashion1 and MUTV but the details on effective date has not been disclosed yet.

True Visions is seeking for approval by the broadcasting panel which will take this matter into consideration next Monday.

However, Supinya will invite True Visions executives for further clarification on next Tuesday.

Thoughts........... At this rate, it'll be easier for them to state what they're still showing.

I've had TrueVisions here for over ten years now (Premium Package) and only ever had BBC Entertainment and Cbeebies each year for a few months around the Christmas period.

I've Never seen a ticker on the screen informing us that we will lose a further 11 channels, as quoted in the Bangkok Post.

TrueVisions also quote they have compensated customer for the lose of the original channels by upgrading their packages for one and a half months, what about the customers that have the top of the line package (Premium Package) how did they get compensated?

A quick look on the TrueVisions web site has no mention of the lose a further 11 channels.

This lot should really be looked into, sure the major channel providers don't sign contracts from month to month with TrueVision.

I'll be going with another provider when my TrueVision contract runs out.

I have ExpatTv using an android box and found it to be excellent (playback facility great) although limited channels, and used iLikeHD on my laptop and great selection of channels, but when I tried using the android box found the playback very intermittent.

TrueVisions to increase payout after pulling HBO channels

NBTC PANEL SETS OUT FORMULA FOR ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION TO SUBSCRIBERS

TRUEVISIONS will pay additional compensation to about 1,000 subscribers who exited its platinum and gold packages from January 1-25 after the company’s cancellation of six HBO channels on December 31, said Natee Sukonrat, chairman of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission’s broadcasting committee.

The broadcasting committee yesterday voted three to one to order TrueVisions to pay add-on compensation to those departing subscribers.

The committe then asked TrueVisions if it agreed with the conclusion.

True chief content and media officer Birathon Kasemsri na Ayudhaya said the company agreed with the panel’s resolution.

“We always welcome fair decisions from the regulator,” Birathon said.

Nateed added that the company had to inform their exiting subscribers within 30 days on the extra compensation after the panel’s decision. The subscribers will be required to detail their membership number and bank account information to TrueVisions to get compensation.

The calculation for the compensation is based on the monthly fees for the platinum and gold packages – Bt2,155 and Bt1,568, respectively. For example, the compensation for a platinum subscriber who cancelled their membership on January 20 will be based on the average daily package price over the first 20 days from January 1.

TrueVisions has already paid the first compensation payouts to affected subscribers. Unlike the ad-on compensation, the first compensation was based on the full 31 days of January. If they cancelled on January 25, the compensation will be calculated on the last seven days of January (January 25-31). TrueVisions yesterday also made an extra offering to existing subscribers by upgrading those gold, super family, sport family and happy family packages to the next level for two months for free until the end of March, up from one month in its first compensation offering.

Platinum subscribers will get an additional 1,000 reward points on the True Black Card privilege cards, up from 1,000 points in the first compensation offering.

TrueVisions added seven new channels – Warner TV, Paramount Channel HD, Celestial Classic Movies, Food Network, Fox Action Movies HD, Sony Channel and True Film HD 2 – immediately after HBO’s feeds were switched off on January 1.

Natee said the broadcasting committee officially issued its first warning to TrueVisions for breaking the NBTC regulation that it should inform its subscribers 30 days in advance of withdrawing the programmes.

There is no penalty for a first warning. If the company breaks any regulation and gets warned again, it will have to face some penalty.

On December 26, the broadcasting committee asked the NBTC’s subcommittee on consumer-rights protection, chaired by NBTC member Supinya Klangnarong, to negotiate with TrueVisions for more remedial packages after the broadcasting panel declined to approve its first compensation packages.

TrueVisions breached the NBTC rules that require pay-TV operators to notify subscribers 30 days before a programme cancellation. TrueVisions informed the broadcasting committee on December 25 that it would drop HBO channels after failing to renew its contract with HBO.

Wow a 1,000 customers to be refunded no wonder Birathon said “We always welcome fair decisions from the regulator,”

In the real world True should now be forced to reduce the cost of both Gold and Platunum packages to current worth and cost -50% st least. Of course I'm dreaming, but True inadvertently have created a demand for better priced competition and given time it will happen. I'm pleased that the virtual monopoly will collapse due to their own greed and non care for what customers want.

If not already you should be getting a notice in the mail as a TRUE subscriber that fees are going up 7% effective June 1. There are perks and free months depending upon the package you have, but in essence they cut programs and raise their fees. :banghead: IMO most of it is going to go to the huge price they paid to get EPL coverage. Regardless, yet another reason to look for alternatives. Pete

Mail and TRUE should not appear in the same sentence :banghead: :cuss:

 Maybe you could scan it, and post it here for us underprivileged.
