I read that most of the grand buildings fronting the Thames would now appear to be back to front, the main thoroughfare through London was the Thames so the grand entrances were always riverside.

Susanna Gregory writes interesting crime novels set after the Great Fire. Her books include sketches of the great house area. The back door was for tradesmen etc and the fast transport was by Thames boat.

I posted something about the Bamboo Railroad in Cambodia in "On the Road" a few days ago. Looks like that, except for the pith helmets on the passengers, so probably in Africa? Pete

It looks like the "Bamboo Railway", or "Norrie", in Cambodia.
