V bar Soi Selekam ladydrinks

Post by Gus »

Last night I was in V bar having a Singha and a nice lady came and sat next to me and after awhile I asked her if she would like a drink.
She had a Bacardi and a little while later I looked at my tab and it showed 120thb for the ladydrink, this I assumed about average.
I had 2 more beers and bought another ladydrink (I think Thai whiskey) for another lady.
So I anticipated a bin of 3x 85 for the beers plus 2x120 for ladydrinks=495 thb.

The bill came and it was 595, on querying this I was told I had bought 2 ladydrinks at 120, but then there was the ladydrink supplement of 50 baht per ladydrink=595,Thai whiskey is not usually as much as 120thb in the bars anyway.

I challenged the bin but didn't want to cause a big argument for 100thb, so just a warning that if you buy a ladydrink in V bar check what the final cost is.
In my opinion this is a sharp practice which will deter customers returning to the bar, to buy ladydrinks anyway.

As far as I know, all bars in Bintabaht charge 50 Baht more for a ladydrink, which is paid to the lady. Only most bars don't write it seperately on the bill. As Bacardi is no Thai whiskey it will cost about the same in all bars. perhaps you pay 10 Baht less in another bar...

Look at it like this - if you buy a ladydrink with the extra surcharge it's the same price as buying a pint in the UK.

May sound like a 'cheap Charlie' approach but always ask how much for lady drink. Sometimes it's negotiable

50B 'ladydrink' fee is about right around town. 120 for the Sangsom+mixer may be a bit on the high side, but not by much.
When you go out tonight..at least you know now how the system works, & will know roughly what you will be expected to pay.
(Yes indeed..that 50B is for the lady, & will have been noted down by the cashier).

Don't let it marr your future evenings out around town..

I usually tell them what they can have, either Sangsom, which I drink, or a San Miguel. It also may seem like a cheap Charlie approach but I think they would take any drink over no drink at all..

I remember when I was living in Hua Hin and a place near what was Red Bar on the other side of the road charged me 200 for a lady's orange juice. No vodka (I sipped it), just orange juice.

Needless to say they didn't see another penny of my money again.

A couple of hours ago I took a lady from a Selekam bar and never bought a ladydrink, I told her she could have a good tip rather than the 50thb commision she would otherwise have got from the drink.

Over the years I have bought more ladydrinks than I dare think about, but in most cases I have had some good fun along the way.
We can talk about ladydrinks for evermore, such as they are 190thb in Havana club.

I don't get that place being all closed off now. Looked so good before it was boarded up, you could see inside and if there was a place to sit... weird.

Are we really talking about 50Bt for the pleasure of a young tactile lady for the duration of a drink? Think back to what that would buy you in the UK!

pdm No, I am not arguing about paying 50 thb for a lovely lady or (boy) to sit with me for 15 minutes or so, I have quite willingly bought hundreds of ladydrinks over the years, in this case I thought it sharp practice by the bar to stick on the 100thb at the end of the tab, just like a tax,
I spoke about this to a lady boss of a nearby bar and she agreed that the ladydrink supplement should be included at the outset, something which 99.9% of the bars do.
Last night I was at a bar watching the football, regrettably I did not buy a staff memebr a drink who was very funny and entertaining, I will put that right tomorrow

Dunno, but will know when I return in Jan.

That property has been the death of so many business ventures, I'd actually be quite surprised if it was still there.

When I was last in town it had few customers and few girls, and aside from one innocent little cutie who actively touted for drinks but wouldn't be barfined, there was nothing memorable about the place.

The problem with that place seems to be twofold:

1) The building has a fundamental design flaw in that the staircase is at the front and slap bang in the middle, dividing the interior into two.

2) Bars with a wide frontage don't work well in narrow sois.

Logic says to rip the staircase out and relocate it to the side or rear, but better still, divide the building into two at the same time..
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

Yes, V-bar still exists. There is a sign that it is for sale.
