Coldest and cheapest beer in Hua Hin

Post by buksida »

Since business is slow and many are counting the pennies, but still enjoy a cold brew now and then, I thought I'd mention this place I often frequent. I don't actually know the name of it but its at the end of soi 51, on Nebkehardt road.

It is a new Thai hotel with a little bar downstairs where you can sit out side and watch the 'hi-so haves' drive by in their Benzes and Beemers.

There is currently a promotion on Chang draught so a large cold bottle with a frosted iced glass will set you back a shocking 55.8 baht (if you get through 5 of them at the promo price of 279). Not a bad way to spend an afternoon with a couple of buddies chewing the fat.

If anyone else knows any good little spots around town post them here.

How can it be draught if it is served in a bottle? Do you mean a pitcher?

HT - Pedantry at its worst.
It may be rubbish - but by golly it's British rubbish.

Bollocks - it's bottled beer no matter what it says on the label. Good price though.

Chang Draft in the BOTTLE is actually the receipe from when Chang and Carlesburg were going to have some sort of 'relationship' in Thailand. It was close to finalizing but then went 'Tits Up'' with Carlesburg never wishing to do business in Thailand again ( so I was told)

So Chang Draft, in the BOTTLE only, is actually a Carlesburg brew.

HT - spot on. Beer "sot" (ie draught should come via a line and hopefully (but rarely in Thailand) a chiller. Should have been phrased as bottled draught beer. Pedantry wins!!!!
But B/sida good choice of brews!
Have noticed that Jungle Juice has more often than not cold beer (bottled) and the draught Heineken at I think Pink Panther is almost cold!

Yep, it tasted just like Carlsberg too.

Anyway the idea of this thread was to find a few of those undiscovered out of the way places that offer a cold brew at a great price.

Agree with PET, Chang draught is Carlsberg, 5% international beer style. When it went south, Chang just swiped the factory Carlsberg put together and used the same recipe.

Edit: Oops, you got your reply in just before I posted this one Mr B, yes, has drifted a bit.

All the Thai places in Nong Pran Puk are 25 Baht for a small can of chang, 10 baht for a yadong chaser. Locals are friendly and the food is good in most of the places, beer icy cold at Naab Thong.

Wouldn't it have been more likely that Chang had the brewery and was doing up Carlsberg under license?

There is a little bar in soi selakam (over the road from lolitas) run by a French guy, beers are 55 baht before 9pm and they are cold, god music and nice staff, look out for the sign out front! Some cheap beers to be had in soi 80.
