I find music comes in two varieties here:

1 - Stuff I or friends choose in a bar - usually jazz soul or rock played at conversation level

2 - Annoying noisy car alarm crap

Note that 2 comes in three volume varieties

Annoyingly Loud (normal setting)

Painfully Loud (post 10pm)

and

Karaoke (aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgh)

Personally, I'm into classical music but the day a bar in HH plays it, there will be no hole in my ass and that will be 20 years after I'm buried. Image
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

@Sandman - gotta love that tagline (science & religeon).

Music wise, HH is -at least from my experience - refreshingly free of reggae!

Bit of white boy (aka 70's) rock available most places,or it is Lady Gaga and Beyonce! And Karaoke.

Thai road houses. there's at least 4 worth trying. Luknam is by far my *least* favourite. Blue Station is no.1, SamorLiang no. 2 and the place on Petchkasem (the name escapes me) no. 3. And that is as long as you ignore the Coyote place.
Had enough of the trolls. Going to sleep. I may be some time....

SERIOUSLY is there any progressive places that cater for music tastes that varies from mainstream? I know of a couple in BKK but i wouldnt want to live there full time.

This might be the place i can live my dream :naughty: by being a dj....opening up the world of music to a new audience :banghead: :banghead: ...................

Now would i do that to you? :neener:

The music can be painfully loud but I do enjoy an hour in Lucky Lukes2 on the corner of Bintabaht and Poonsuk, I'm sure you can hear the siren in Kao Takiab, but you won't see the bubbles there.

The DJ is a bit Ting Tong but he's OK, he does change the music too much though, just when you are getting into a tune it changes.
He must be the only DJ with his own fridge/beer supply and bottle opener within arms length of his music computer.
I did have a beer one night in a bar opposite Tina bar because it was Bee Gees music, it made a change from the "I've got a feeling....."

My own feeling about loud techno music is that whilst I am not a lover of it I can endure it for my Tirac du Jours sake, as long as it is only one, in Soi 7/8 Pattaya you can hear about 5 or 6 at the same time.

What a shame about salsa....lessons are free for beginners in BKK.
I wasnt expecting much to be honest, the bar owners do have to cater to there clientele but if there were something around which i could get into it would make my stay a lot nicer. :thumb:

So are there any bars that play live C&W in HH? I do like that, and 60s rock - the music of my youth!
