I think I read something in the Bangkok Post that Man U has already released him? Pete

There's nothing been reported in UK, though I imagine now Portugal are out Ronaldo will do everything he can to get away. There's been no statement from Man U.

I looked back through the newspaper archieves and could only find the below quote. Perhaps this what I was thinking of? Pete

"Ronaldo, who reportedly is seeking a transfer to Real Madrid......"

Yep, I did see or hear that somewhere, but pure speculation. No quotes or substance. But Ferguson has a habit of peeing off some of the star players. I'll be surprised if Van Cheatelroy is still at Old Trafford come August, they've fallen out big time.

I call him Can Cheatelroy because as everyone knows he's a diver. First hand experience at Portman Road, a couple of games before the end of our last premiership season. He blatantly dived, got them a penalty and they won 1-0. If we'd have drawn that game we'd have stayed up. I'll never forgive the Dutch git.

I had a look on the Man Utd website yesterday, and Real Madrid are far more interested in buying Van Nistelrooy than Ronaldo.

They were reported as being interested in 2 Man Utd players the second one being Ronaldo, but RVN was their primary target.

Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo incidentally don't get on and haven't spoken to each other for months. So Ronaldo won't be getting it all his own way if he goes to Madrid. Plus

As a Man U fan I want the diving cheat out of O.T. ASAP

Just shows the state of the so called "beautiful game!" what a joke it is when it comes down to who is the most convincing cheat. The referees are definitley on bungs thats plain to see. The only way forward is for after game reviews or instant replays. Personally i think that Mr Rooney is a total thug and a disgraceful influence on Englands society, BUT i would love to see him get hold of that Ronaldo twat and give him a proper pasting - that would be much more entertaining! The game is a joke, the players are a joke. God help football
Rant done.

UEFA president Lennart Johansson is surely one of the most ignorant people working in world football today.
UEFA president Lennart Johansson has blamed England's World Cup flop on the number of foreigners playing in the Premiership.

Johnasson believes home-grown talent is being held back as clubs continue to turn to overseas stars.

He has called for a limit on foreign players but admits changes are unlikely under current European labour laws.
Now I'm no expert on such matters but even I know that the team we sent to Germany was prolly the strongest we've had in many a year, the 'Golden generation' they've been called. They didn't flop for any other reason than they just didn't perform to their abilities (plus injuries) and Sven bears much of the rsponsibilty for that... his team selections, tactics & motivation or rather lack of it. So you daft Swede, don't tell me that we failed cos there are too many foreigners in our game, i suppose he'd prefer it if we were more like the Swedish league, which is stuffed full of mediocre players. Good players will always be noticed & given their opportunity by bigger clubs.

Harry,

It must affect the chances of our home grown players coming through the coaching process and into the top flight - the english game needs a huge overhaul its absolute crap and has been for a long time, we have been mediocre for ages. When did we last win anything?? We say after every tournament - "we were robbed" - bottom line we aint good enough - And you make your own luck - "the more i practise the luckier i get" one of the best quotes ever made by Gary Player after holing another bunker shot.

I disagree. Look at the premiership as it was in the 80's, not much money around & a noticeable lack of foreigners. Was the England team successful? Were there quality players playing in the division? Nope, just a load of mediocre players. I remember the Chelsea team under Hoddle, distinctly average. Then Sky came along & money came into the game, lots of it! So did the foreigners, which relegated our mediocre players to the lower divisions. The good ones of quality still came through, Gazza for one.

The cream will always rise to the top, my friend. :D

Errr... self-styled Golden Generation. The first person I heard describe them in this way was Gary Neville! Now everyone in the media seems to have picked up on it.

^ I thinks it's generally accepted that they were our best bet for a major honour since we were cruelly denied a second Image in 1970.

Agreed but 'Golden Generation' is stretching it a bit, don't you think?

I think that in England's case, that is half the problem!

However, you could fairly say the French have had a Golden Generation - 1 world cup, 1 European championship and possibly another WC. Not really much of a comparison is there?

Positively the last word :D
Brothels glad Italy in World Cup final

Prostitutes in Berlin say they are glad Italy knocked Germany out of the world cup because Italian fans make the best punters.

Haki Simsek, the owner of Artemis - Germany's largest brothel - said: "I know I shouldn't be happy Germany lost, but it's the best result imaginable for business."

So far the World Cup has failed to bring in the business for the world's oldest profession despite high expectations.

Artemis worker Svetlana from Omsk said: "It's been a total flop. The fans are all celebrating with beer instead of sex."

But according to Marlene, 29, from Poland, the Italian fans have saved the day. "After a win they are in a great mood and love celebrating with us and after a bad game they need comforting."

Owner Simsek added: "The Italians love coming here, they are great customers and we are all so happy they are in the final."

This is a ruse used by Frenchman in most of the red light districts in Europe.

They are aware that as Italians satisfy the ladies as well as themselves that they may get discount. It is normal after defeat for the French to visit brothels.

In the time of the Napoleonic wars the French troops had mobile brothel units set up so that the French soldiers could be consoled after their numerous defeats.
