Will Christiano Ronaldo dare play in England again?

Post by Big Boy »

Now that television all around the world has proved Christiano Ronaldo to be the cheat who sealed England's fate yesterday, do you think he will dare play in the English Premiership ever again.

More importantly, will he continue to play in the same team as Wayne Rooney?

 Sounds a bit like sour grapes to me big boy. It wasn't Ronaldo who lost England the match. It was the England players who have once again proved they are over-hyped and over-rated. Before Roony was sent off he was crap apart from one decent shot on goal. I admit the sending off was a bit harsh, but a high profile international player earning millions should at least be able to conduct himself in a professional manner. It seems Roony can not do this. No one can be surprised Roony was sent off.

Be content that England had a fairly lucky draw up to the quarters and nearly made the semis. That's punching above their ability in my opinion.

I agree with you Ronaldo is a cheat, but he is also a very exiting player to watch. You also have to admit unfortunately there are many players who cheat to some degree or another. It can be palatable if the cheating is for your own team, but when against you it naturally becomes diabolical. Many players cheat (or at least try to gain an advantage) in the EPL and many are English. Should every cheat be hounded out of the EPL? I think not and it would look bad if English supporters did this to Ronaldo. Roony can not control his temper, there is no denying that, but he is also an exiting player to watch, (but over rated in my opinion).

Commiserations Big Boy, (sincerely). It is heartbreaking for England they lose so many on penalty shoot-outs. :cuss:

It's a done deal. The greasy sod if off to real for 20 million. If Man. U can't keep hold of young talent like him then what does that say about their future ambitions? I don't really give a toss myself cos I'm a CFC supporter. :D

I don't care, but he will get slaughtered at every ground.

Great talent he may be, but he's in the Rooney class for petulance. His play acting is already in the Drogba league - speaking as a blues man myself.

Alan Shearer has publicly stated that Rooney should chin him at the training ground!!!

That might settle it?

WE WUZ ROBBED....(AGAIN).... zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Big Boy, you are obviously being very selective about which part of the video re-run to watch. The stamp to the nuts was a red card offence in its own right, so justice was done in the end. To rub salt into the wounds and since Rooney was apparently not sent off for the stamp, he is now being investigated for violent conduct by FIFA with regards to that particular piece of foul play.

Luckily for him, and thanks to collective myopia and xenophobia in Eng-er-land, Rooney will not have to run the same gauntlet as Beckham after his sending off against Argentina because there is a ready made 'greasy' scapegoat in Ronaldo. Pathetic is the word that comes to mind.

I was sure that Ronaldo was going to get the blame for the Loss....

"It's his fault.... he did this... he did that..."

Why not face the fact that England was not that Great a Team after All?

I am also Upset that Portugal Went Through... but not for the Same Reasons. I am Cheering for France and wold have Preferred to draw England (weakest Team) in the Semis than Portugal. :?

Unfortunately, not Rooney, Ronaldo or any individual player can be held to blame for the exit - if an individual is to blame, then SGE should be - and he's out of the door anyway. The game should have been done and dusted before penalties, England had enough chances, enough possession but no one capable of finishing - and they were always going to be short of strickers with the squad SGE took.
Good luck to Steve Maclaren, I hope he gets a bit of support from the media, but if he doesnt perform ................ then a complete new managment team should be given a go.

It does not matter who Ronaldo plays for every time he steps on an English football ground he will cop it from everywhere.
It has been said that there is a book on whether Rooney chins Ronaldo on the training ground before the start of the season. Would be interesting to be attanding the training sessions.

Personally I thought Peter Crouch done a much better job of playing on his own up front in the time that he was on the pitch than Rooney had done in all the previous games. It gave the opposition somethimg to think about in how to stop him.

In Rooney, it was easy, wind him up, wait for him to loose his temper and off he would go. I thought that in his time on the pitch Crouch posed a much bigger threat to Portugal than Rooney had ever done. He was awkward to get the ball off, posed a threat in the air (something the angry ant had never done), and gave a lot of one touch passes to teamates that bought them into the game.

I do think that if we had had Crouch and Rooney up front together, we would have had a lot more success.
With Crouch taking the punishment and providing all the little touches and flicks for Rooney we may have at least had some chances in the box to score. As Rooney on his own was restricted to was a lot of long range shooting and nothing else

I hope that Rooney cops all of the crap that David Beckham did after he got sent off against Argentina (while he might not apprecioate it), it may make him grow up and realise that he cannot go around on the international football stage, throwing his weight around and leaving his foot in places where it should not be.
He deserves all the crap that he gets and will take peoiple a long time to forget what he did.

English or foreign? As far as I can see there are no qualified English managers, they are all mediocre at best.

I don't remember seeing England lose at any Football match in this competition. There was nobody good enough to beat them. On my TV the final score was 0 - 0. The fact Portugal were better at the party game used to decide who goes through is irrellevant - they'll probably cheat their way further in the competition.

What I can't abide is cheating. I've already sent a video clip to Guess of the Italian squad 'training' - its quite interesting to see how our European cousins train to 'play' football. The sooner they cut out out this cheating, and concentrate on the game of football the better for all of us.

Chelsea, thanks for the picture - its up on the notice board in work for everybody to have a stab at.

I have not had the benefit of a super slo-mo replay of the Rooney incident, but my initial reaction as it was happening was 'why has the ref not blown up for the half a dozen fouls inflicted on Rooney' and then it appeared he had, before Mr Stepover raced across the field to wind WR up a bit more, resulting in the petulant push which I believe was the red card offence. The stamp on Carvallho's bollocks was accidental as far as I could see, because Rooney was being fouled, part of which entailed trapping his leg between Carvallho's legs, and in trying to extricate his leg by an up and down movement (and not falling over and clutching his face while at the same time waving an imaginary red card) that ended with the Chelsea cheat getting a thoroughly deserved stamp on his tackle. The red was harsh but it has been proven time and again that you cannot raise your hands in that manner. Even with Rooney on the field England had failed to score so there is no reason to believe that they would have done without the sending off. The entire debacle can be blamed on the now departed Swede, hopefully renamed 'The Turnip 2' - crap squad selection, crap team selection, crap formations and crap tactics. Now England can look forward to another four years of the same under McLaren.....

Big Boy, we feel bad enough about getting dumped out, but what about the Swiss, they are in the same boat.
They never conceeded a goal and then got done on penalties in the 1st of the knockout stages.
I do think the swiss get the prize for the worst takers. I think that the missed the 1st three (we were not far behind though)

We should have a separate competition for the loosers of the 1/4 finals.
Look at the teams, England, Brazil, Argentina plus the Ukraine, much better quality of teams been knocked out than is left in the comp. Can you imagine how boring the final will be if it between Italy & France. It does not bear thinking about does it.
