Yes, I should have mentioned that. You shaved 1/2 point off of Pitsch's lead over you. Two battles going on for the podium at the moment. :D Pete

Mark Webber to retire from motor racing

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport ... cing/#stop

Mark Webber has announced he'll retire from professional racing at the end of the world endurance season in Bahrain next month.

The 40-year-old Canberran competed in over 200 F1 grands prix, winning nine and finishing third in the drivers' championship on three occasions with Red Bull.

The Australian won the World Endurance title with Porsche last year with Germany's Timo Bernhard and New Zealander Brendon Hartley but said the time is right to hang up his helmet.

Hamilton unaware of Mercedes' overnight sensations

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport ... ons/#page1

Austin (AFP) - Lewis Hamilton admitted he was unaware his Mercedes team had worked through the night to deliver a car which carried him to a blistering pole position for Sunday's United States Grand Prix.

The 31-year-old defending champion grabbed the 58th pole of his career, edging out teammate Nico Rosberg who leads the title race by 33 points with four races remaining.

It was his first pole in five attempts at the Circuit of the Americas.

Hamilton, using a car with a new fuel injection system which was fitted overnight, said he had no idea about the repairs carried out by mechanics who worked until 4am to keep his title push on track.

Formula 1 outlaws moving under braking after protests over Max Verstappen

http://www.bbc.com/sport/formula1/37741994

Drivers' concerns about the defensive tactics of Red Bull's Max Verstappen have led to Formula 1 outlawing moving under braking.

The Dutchman has employed this tactic as a trademark in battles with rivals but many other drivers have complained that it is extremely dangerous.

Race director Charlie Whiting was told at the US Grand Prix that there would be a big accident if he did not act.

Whiting has issued a ruling saying such moves will be considered illegal.

"It is like it is," Verstappen said about the rule.
"It's good to make it clearer what's allowed and what's not.

"I'm just going to race and then we will see how it is going to be defending and how it will affect the racing."

This is likely to become known as the "Verstappen rule" after a series of controversies involving the 19-year-old this year.
