And largely accurate, although Cambridge (and others to a lessor extent) will benefit to the tune of about £1.5m due to the replay they earned against Man U. Obviously any small club that gets an away draw against one of the big boys is going to earn a bumper payday, with the win a big bonus in terms of honour.richard wrote:My own personal view is that the FA cup is about honour. The League title and getting in or staying in the Premier league is about money. Therefore to sacrifice the FA cup to be able to focus on league position is a financial decision. Just my view

Re: F.A. Cup 2014-15
I don't believe any club would 'sacrifice ' a place in the next round of the FA cup and a day out and an appearance at Wembley in the cup final at the end of the season, certainly not any of the players.
Ok, so teams may rest players, but the squads and the changes made should be more than enough to beat lower league clubs.
If you take a look at the teams fielded by the 'big boys', you'll see what I mean.
Anyway, this round produced the biggest collective of 'shock' cup results in my living memory and Bradford City, probably the biggest upset in history.
Well done to the minnows
Let's hope we don't follow suit at Brighton today

I think Arsenal fans are allowed a little gloat, didn`t want to say before the Brighton game just in case.
Was it Caller who was worried that Chelsea might implode in the new year just as they have in seasons past?

Man U 1 Arsenal 2, a great game for any neutrals watching but nerve-wracking for fans of either club. How much did Di Maria cost? United should ask for a refund, apart from the brilliant de Gea only Rooney showed any gumption but is he worth 300k a week?
So the next round is Reading or Bradford, if it is Bradford perhaps Arsenal can restore some London pride after Chelsea were beaten 4 2.

I only said "perhaps" Caller
Re: F.A. Cup 2014-15
United v Arsenal was an excellent first half and 1-1 was a fair scoreline but United were appalling in the second half....no cohesion in midfield, dodgy defence again including a great back pass by Valencia and toothless in attack.
If it wasnt for De Gea,Arsenal would have won 4-1.
Why did Van Gaal take off Shaw and Herrera at half time and replace them with Jones and Carrick ? Makes no sense.
Roy Keane is saying Van Gaal should be given 3 years....seems a bit harsh....18 months in Strangeways would be more appropriate !

F.A. Cup 2014-15
That was the most convincing victory in an FA Cup final I have ever seen.
Must have been boring for the neutral, devastating for Villa fans, but oh boy wasn't it great for us Gooners!!
We are now officially the most successful club in the history of the oldest cup competition in football.

A non-contest - I went to bed at half time. Embarrassing for British football.
Championship Stoke City 3 - 0 Plymouth Argyle
Points 48; Position 20

There were more than 100 Finnish Gooners in a pub I went to watch the match last night. What a great athmosphere and result. What a way to start 10 week summer vacation.
