He'll only get as much opportunity to practice as anybody else; Thursday FP1 & 2, and Saturday FP3. Anything else, other than simulator work, would be in breach of regulations*.

He's one of the fittest guys on the grid, and has experience of driving cars before they pussied out in 2011 & 2014, so he should be ok. Hopefully the McLaren has found some pace by then.

*edit... having thought about it... they could put him in for a couple of practice sessions in races prior to the event, but that would mean substituting out one of their race drivers.

Vettel wins his second with Hamilton losing it IMO because of a 5 second pit lane penalty.

What is it with the ignorant **ick? It is not the first-time he has pulled a stunt like this. This time he got caught out!

A very entertaining race despite all the retirements.

Comment from Practice #2:

"Stoffel Vandoorne will be given a 15-place grid penalty at this weekend's race because Honda is fitting a new engine to the Belgian’s car after a failure in the first practice session.

It means Vandoorne will use his fifth of two of the six constituent parts of the engine - and drivers are allowed only four before being hit with grid penalties."

^ However, if Putin is in attendance hopefully no driver will accept any tea or coffee invitation, or any edible gifts. I'm sure there's some desire and urgency for Kvyat to finish near the top. Pete

Ferrari currently also look quicker in race trim; so if qualifying turns out like that it could actually turn out to be a rather dull race. Mercedes, however, always seem to have that magic "engine mapping" that gives them an advantage in Q3
