Great. Monday good for me. Anyone else? Will leave it to someone else to suggest where as I've only been here a couple of weeks and have been taken to a lot of hotels (bars not rooms!)

Sometime next year for me, but I'm with you in spirit!

Can I suggest a first topic to debate? Snow by Orhan Pamuk - anyone have any views on the merit of this novel?

To me, not only was it a totally absorbing, well written and structured read, but a very relevant and important addition to some of the issues facing most of us today?

The fact he lives in Istanbul and could write such a challenging tale is a credit to that Countries culture and society.

I haven't read it yet but I want to. I've read many good things about it. I don't know how easy it is to get hold of contemporary fiction in Hua Hin or whether it's one I will pick up in Bangkok/on Amazon. Perhaps anyone else not resident here right now can post their suggestions too and we can discuss?

Are we to discuss writing or reading?

Well either we have 2 separate forums, or combine the two. We might take it in turns to suggest books or come up with a short list as we will have to have time to read them.

It also depends on who is around and who would prefer to discuss online. We could discuss books on line perhaps so that other HHAD members can contribute if they want; but send writing to one another via email or pm? And those that can meet up can meet and discuss either! (have to get the cocktails in there somewhere!)

Perhaps a new forum on HHAD is needed to cover this? It could be called reviews and have sub-headings such as books, music, current writing etc. Or maybe its too early for that?

Are you volunteering? :)
I would be happy to moderate if needs be.

No problem if there is enough demand. We have started a couple of other new forums which unfortunately havent been as popular as we had anticipated.

This was one of the sections I was refering to, which hasnt taken off.

I think our readership is around 80% male anyway, I'm guessing most women get put off by the name before they go any further into the site.
