hello to all and such a friendly group

Post by LaughTilIDie »

Hello all and thanks in advance for any advice you have for my possible retirement to HH. I plan on visiting, hopefully in August or September, all things being considered.
There are a lot of activities I see from the board that I enjoy, golf, scuba diving and even the hash hound harriers race even though the only one I participated in there was much more of the drinking than the running.
One concern I might have is that HH is a tourist area during half of the year. I lived in Florida most of my life and it would become miserably overcrowded when the snow birds flocked to town. What is it like in those months?

There's a dripfeed of tourists all the year round, however it seems to always be busy in Hua Hin, especially at the weekends as the traffic is at a standstill, for me the good outweigh the bad. Enjoy :D

Thank you. It's not really a concern as the tourist trade supports the local economy. I look forward to visiting in the near future and meeting all of you.

If you retire to Hua Hin it's quite simple except at weekends the area gets very busy with Bangkok weekenders and late afternoon the Pechakasem Road the highway through the town gets grid locked so plan shopping and recreation on week days.

My thought

"If I could hit the gas down to Hua Hin town every week end, hell' I would be bumper to bumper"

This sounds good and I just decided on the end of August for about 10 days in HH. I've got about a million questions from what's involved in bringing a dog into the country (if that's even permissible) to where I'll be able to get gas permeable contact lenses & supplies. I'll keep searching the forum for answers.
Hope to meet a lot of you when I come to pick your brains for help.
