Newbie looking for UK/Aussie groups

Post by loxley99 »

Hi - I am a 'newbie' here ...have recently arrived in HH and am in the process of building a house here.

I am an English/Australian - I am a retired director of an international luxury hotel company. I do not play golf and past the 'bar scene' - I enjoy good company, good food and wine and of course rugby !

Are there any ex pat British or Australian groups/associations/organisations here in HH ? If so how can I make contact ? Any help appreciated - Thanks

Welcome to the forum

There are plenty of Oz and Brits that hang out in the bars on soi 80 but you say the bar scene is no longer your bag. No social gatherings that I know of but there is a multi cultural quiz night once a month where new faces are always welcome at Johnny Walkers bar.

Many places show rugby, but it is fun to watch with people who know the game. El Murphys is a good choice, SRO last week for England v NZ

There are lots of places to watch Rugby in town and Truevisions now have a channel dedicated to Rugby so you can record games that are played at times when you can't watch and replay them later.

If live Rugby interests you there is a Thai Rugby Federation and the top sides play in a league competition based in and around Bangkok. Try the Old Bangkok Bangers website for details.

Also there is an annual international 7's competition run in October and a big 10's competition in February. Both are good events and well attended by large numbers of local rugby followers living in Thailand. Again you can find details on the web or Facebook.

Enjoy Thailand and enjoy your Rugby !
