TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
I have developed "trigger finger", an annoying and uncomfortable condition where the tendons that move the affected finger get stuck in the fibrous sheath that covers them at a certain point, moving the finger is painful as the tendon tries to free itself from its constriction.
I have had this before , and it was relieved quickly by an injection of steroid into the affected tendon sheath.
Can anyone recommend an orthopaedic doctor in Hua Hin who is likely to be able to do this. Either a high street orthopaedic clinic or a doctor at the Soi 5 hospital.
I wont go to Bangkok Hua Hin Hospital due to a potentially life threatening misdiagnosis and the rampant unprofessionalism I encountered there a while back.
Thanks in advance for any helpful input.

Re: TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
I have very painful Bicipital Tendonitis in my shoulder, when living in UK I went to the Doc's every 6 months for a Cortisone injection to relieve the pain.
Went to Hua Hin Hospital to request the same here and was refused because here they say that the injection only deteriorates the tendon making it worse.
I would be interested in somewhere too.

there's an orthopedic surgeon at Bangkok hospital who's experienced and knowledgeable. he gave my wife a cortisone shot for her shoulder capsule tendonitis. it gave her enough relief so she could have massage and do stretching exercises that have relieved the pain. also, he speak did his training in the u.s. and speaks fluent English.

Re: TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
I get de Quervains syndrome, tendonitis in the ligament to the thumb---Most orthopedic surgeons will not give REPEATED injections of steroids for tendonitis, but if resting (by splinting) and anti-inflammatories do not help they will give a shot. A couple of times a year is acceptable.
Re: TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
I've used Dr.Nut who has a clinic just off Petchkasem across from the downtown gas station. Sorry I don't have better directions but if you have access to a Thai partner or friend they could find him easily.
Dr. Nut has done three "surgeries" for trigger finger on my hands. He does it quickly and painlessly by creating a hook out of one needle and pulling the tendon back where it belongs. I've had no recurrence and he only charges me B500.

Trigger finger is terrible with only one solution, surgery. I would recommend going to Hua Hin hospital, Bangkok is way to expensive and San Paulo may say you have a brain tumor

Re: TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
I have had tendonitis in my wrist for 6 weeks now. I hate it, but I have been told I can do nothing but rest it. That is very difficult when i work on a keyboard, and everything I do in life seems to involve my hands. Even using a running machine makes it worse. Nightmare, and I feel sorry for anybody who has to put up with tendon problems

Can you tell me a little more about this " surgery".Dr. Nut has done three "surgeries" for trigger finger on my hands. He does it quickly and painlessly by creating a hook out of one needle and pulling the tendon back where it belongs. I've had no recurrence and he only charges me B500.
Is there an incision with sutures, or is the hook just inserted through the (anaesthetised I hope) skin?
I was hoping to find a doctor who would treat me with an injection of steroid. I have had this injection before on another finger, and there has been no recurrence of the tendon problem since.

Re: TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
I fixed my trigger finger without surgery by wearing one of these skin coloured finger splints for 3 months
http://www.3pointproducts.com/sidemenu/oval8
Wearing the correct size is critical, make sure you follow the instructions when measuring the effected finger (s).

Reem's reply video describes the procedure. Dr. Nut instructed me not to do anything with the hand for a couple of days. There is no incision, just the puncture site through the skin. He does use a bit of anesthetic so you really don't feel much during the procedure and there is no residual pain at all.

Re: TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
Just to update, I tried to get seen by a couple of clinics in Hua Hin over the weekend, but the clinics were either closed or the Doc not present.
Now I am in Bangkok for a week and turned up at the new Sukhumvit hospital at Ekkamai this morning, I was seen within 30 minutes by a doctor in their Orthopaedic department and 10 minutes later received a combined local anaesthetic/steroid injection into the affected tendon sheath. Total cost for consultation, jab and 5 anti-inflammatory pills to be taken over the next 5 days was B2600.

Re: TRIGGER FINGER and TENDONITIS
So what internet thingy do we believe? The internet thingy from a guy who has been there and says it's "across from the downtown gas station" or the Google internet thingy (Even has a map) that locates the place nowhere near a downtown gas station? At least I would call it nowhere near and certainly not "across" as I would use the term.
I just don't know . . . .
