Medical Cover Insurance for expats in HH

Post by magsandbilly »

Hi there

Still looking into the retirement and the next thing on our list is medical insurance.

Is there a good medical insurance that an expat can take out to cover us in our retirement?

Anybody recommend some companies?

Thanks

Last week while I was in HH I tried to visit the office here (not intended to be promotional post)

Insure in Thailand.com
Wong Chomsin Building, Office 504
83/14 Phetkasem Road
Hua Hin, Prachuab Khiri Khan 77110

There is a map on their website but for the life of me I could not find the building :banghead:

Went back a couple of times and found 83/12, 83/13 and then south to 83/2 a bank where none of the employees could give me a clue where it was. Across the street numbers were 125/xx???. Now I know the address numbering scheme is a little different in HH, probably all of Thailand but, I could not make heads or tails of it.

Any help for my next visit would be appreciated and yes I had an unbelievable experience in HH, with the exception of a serious reaction to the ocean water at the entrance off Damnorean Kasem Rd. (sp?)

Downstairs there is Sirada (Bapaks place). Go down the side of the building, and turn left. You will come to a lift. Get the lift to the 5th floor, and it is immediately on your right when you exit the lift.

Outside the building, if you look to the 5th floor, when I was there a week ago, they still had their old AA Insurance sign outside.

From the outside, the top of the building also had/has a sign saying TLC as in The Learning Centre.

If you are close and still cannot find it phone them and they will guide you. The building is on the opposite side of the road to what looks like an empty lot and is used as a car park. I use them and have found them very helpful without pushing in the slightest. You get a thorough explanation of the options. Thoroughly recommended.

This building, top left corner. The map on lower left on your screen orients you as to exact location on Phetskasen Road.

Is there a 'Group Scheme' for Medical insurance in Hua Hin similar to the one offerred by the Pattaya City Expat Club. They offer AXA Insurance 3 levels of cover the mid being Baht 30443pa for ahe 60-65. Can be renewed up to age 75. You have to join the club at Baht 400pa % go to Pattaya one time. I think it gives you 90 days cover in home country. Seem a reasonable cost alternative to an individual scheme.

Pattaya Expats Club (PEC) offers the same scheme as Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) . These are 2 different groups , with PEC being the bigger of the 2 , with a joining fee of only 100 baht for a lifetime membership. This health scheme is very popular with a starting price around 22000 baht for under 60's

If, for whatever reason, there is no similar group scheme here and the Pattaya Expat Club will accept a Hua Hin resident as a member and, most importantly, local hospitals are included in the cover then a trip round to Pattaya, lifetime membership fee and perhaps night in a hotel will still result in a substantial saving for pretty much anyone.
I have always been happy with AA insurance but the savings would be substantial and cannot be ignored.
