This was taken last year, but the same one or its mate was on the bottom step of the house 2 days ago .
The dog we have a Thai ridge back went crazy , i went out to look and found it . So i pocked it with a stick and it went into some pots of plants near the steps , i am standing in a sarong and bare feet , i think it will go the other way away from me . No it comes out my way over my feet and across the yard and through the fence into the bananas , am i a prat or what.

I would say (I'm 99% sure), that this is a harmless Golden Tree Snake.
However, the similarity to a highly venomous Pit-viper would make me think twice before confronting him.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

I think that you are right, Norseman. The shape of the head is not like a pit-viper, plus vipers are supposed to be nocturnal--but do not trust any of them!

I don't know if we've highlighted the below site on this or other snake threads. It's the best site for information that I've come across. Pete

PS: I'm searching again as the maid came face to face with "something green, long and fat" while she was down cleaning debris out form under an air conditioner yesterday. I'd like to talk to her more about it, but I think she's still running.

Yes Golden tree snake. I've had one in my house. They move as quick as a quick thing on a quick pill.

Does look like a Malayan Pit Viper, the eye stripe, the triangular head, the diamond pattern on the back and that you call him little (assuming he was less than a metre long).

In the original picture can you see his pupil (in his eye)? Is it vertical?

In the link above there is a good pic of a Malaysian Pit Viper. Your pic looks very similar and if you look at the stripe behind the eyes they both have them.
