Dog sitting

Post by Sallythorpe »

Hi I have just moved to Dolphin a Bay, whilst our house is being built, nearby.
Does anyone know of anyone who would be willing to look after my Labradoodle in May for 10 days, when we have yo go back to the UK?
Thanks
Sally

When we travel we hire a local Thai to come twice a day to feed our dogs and make sure they have water. We have to pay her 200 baht per day but to find someone you trust to come and take good care of your pooches it's worth it. The alternative is that there is a kennel (Swedish run, I think) that my neighbor uses and he says they are very good and his dog is always happy to return there (and he travels a lot). Not sure where that is but I can find our from my friend or I'm sure others know.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

There's a kennels in a house on the Mountain Vill Estate, just off the canal road and just past Mr. Burger 2 (if that's what it's still called).

The kennel looks nice but the woman who runs it seems a little clueless when it comes to caring for anything bigger than a shih tzu. I decided against it after visiting. The other kennel (Europa) is in Cha Am. The woman who runs it is great and my dogs love her. Unfortunately, my dogs always come back with ticks from there (even through they get Frontline every month).

I wish there was another option, but that's it.

I agree with the above post. We have taken our dog there many times,as well as our friends, and the last time our dog came back with over 150 tics! She had so many she actually had a fever and it took over a month to get totally rid of them! Our friends also as many along with ringworm thank you very much.
The dogs really like her, but unfortunately we are not willing to endanger our animals there anymore. If anyone knows of an alternative near H.H. Or even in Bkk, can you please post some info. This area surely needs a good clean kennel for those of us that truly care for our animals.
Thanks so much!

Hi. Thanks for all your recommendations.
I'd rather not send her to kennels and come back with a load of ticks.
I'd much prefer a family, who already own a dog, to look after her and we'd do a swap, when they go away?

I know of someone who does dog sitting, he lives at the top of the hill on Hin Lek Fei rd.
His name is John and he has been sitting dogs in Hua Hin for years.
