Don't know where he's gone but since the shop closed I have now started going to Chic on Petchakasem Road 83/14. It's a modern salon and the guy who cuts and colors my hair is Nuii. He's excellent and speaks very good english, the phone number is 532798, hope this helps :)

Chic is very good, at least the one downtown near the fishing tackle shops. I'm not sure about the quality of the other 2 (Petchkasem and Market Village), is it the same chain?

For big spenders there is one down near the Saengthai Seafood place, but costs about 1000 baht!

I went to Chic today in Market Village. A guy named Nat did my colour and cut, he was excellent. He spoke perfect English and did exactly what I asked for.

'Her who shall be obeyed' after being spoilt rotten in the UK having her hair done at Sanrizz in Southampton by some very good stylists who have won competitions decided it was time to get her hair done the other week and finally decided to drag me to Chic in MV. She will use the local shops for washing her hair using the shampoo she takes with her (she will only wash her hair at home as a last ditch measure due to closures during holidays etc).
Judging by the fact that I was dragged back to Chic to have my own hair cut it a few days ago it seems they pass her stringent requirements. She was duly pampered and came out satisfied with the results which was considerably less than it would have cost back in the UK. She had the wash, dye (I got in trouble for calling it 'tah see'), cut and blow dry. Came out less than 2,000 baht. My own wash, cut and dry (too far gone for any dye) was less than 500 baht. First time I have had my hair done in a shop for years as I am well down the hair loss path and am happy with a machine cut but the guy who did mine made a good job of it.
Looks like they get quite a few non Thai customers and language is not a problem. Worth considering if you are looking for somewhere to get your hair done.

Guess its another area where guys get a break. In Bkk I pay 60b, in HH 80b,I always tip the extra 20b so they treat me like a VIP.

Can understand the comments. At the time I could not help but think that as Midlandmike says, I could have had a cut, VIP treatment and got drunk on the change. I did not know about the cut until we were in the shop. I have seen some electric clippers on 3F MV and will get some to avoid this expenditure next time. My beloved is not referred to as 'Her who shall be obeyed' for nothing. A few years to go before retirement but when it comes it will be a bigger shock for her than me though.

I had my hair cut and highlighted by a lady from Derby, UK a couple of weeks ago. She's lived in Hua Hin for about 6 months and is an excellent colourist and hairdresser IMO.
If anybody would like her details please PM me, not sure if she would want her phone number on here :)
