I think someone from this site recommended them. They have sent me a lot of info. Has anyone else used them before? They told me it would cost 35,000 baht + vat to set up the company. Does this sound reasonable?
The price depends on how you want to set up.
Preference share structure in the articles of association costs a more.
Thai nominees cost maybe 1000 each.
About 5,500 for each 1 million capitalization.
Some companies will quote 10K baht but if you read more closely the provisions you want will add to the cost.
I paid 35K and am satisfied I got what I wanted.
BTW, there are firms in BKK that will charge close to 100K.

[why can't we just relax and enjoy what there is to enjoy. It seems to me that people who are use to being in control, find it very frightening when the shoe is on the other foot.
Sometimes you just have to go with the flow

Hey Mungo
Jaime and Lomu are just offering sound and very experienced advice and really what is apparent to me is that you must be indifferent to the possibility that come a few years you will be wide open to losing perhaps in excess of $100,000.Great if you can afford that but in any society not just Thai, relationships can come unglued very easily.Do not think it has anything to do with 'being in control',more likely'just being remotely prudent'

It would not really be in Thailands interest to take homes/land away from foreigners, even if foreigners use non perfect and not perfectly legal loopholes to own.

Doing this would basically mean nationalising foreign assets. Something that generally proves catastrophic for a countrys foreign investment and might just give thailand another real estate crash.

Doubt the thai gov would be silly enough to do this but who knows.

If you want the easiest method then fall in love with a local and put the deeds in her name. Just make sure that you don't fall out of love with her !
