My friend had the same experience at the Subhamitri a few years ago. He was with his Philipino wife and young daughter. We were all sitting around the pool having a cold drink when the staff rudely told my friend that he would have to leave. I had booked 6 rooms in the hotel for friends who were attending a wedding at my home in Hua Hin. As the staff was insistent that he leave I let all my friends know. The staff was surprised that everyone checked out.
Everyone re checked in at the Baan Manthana. Nice place with a great owner.

I am at the Jed Pee Nong now 1500 includes breakfast. A very basic room with tv and mini fridge. No in room safe though. Pool is small but ok. Short walk to the beach andthe bar area starts right across the street.
