You can only make it as far as the Kings residence, then the guards turn you back.

Yeah Norm,
but getting down by the Sofitel is past the palace by bus, unless you want to throw in a couple of extra kilometers swim around the exclusion zone at the palace ,just to make the trip a bit more interesting.
Could be a nice triathalon route Norm.Jog on down ,swim around the royals and cycle on back!
Dare say I'd be dead half way through the swim if not sooner.
Complexity is so simply overrated

Don't think I would survive to the swim, so guess I will head north and go into Cha Am instead. :run: :run: :run: :run:

Actually they have done a nice job of tidying up Cha Ams main beach, if you haven't been there for a while check it out.

I don't think you would be able to swim around the palace exclusion zone.
The security forces stationed there would be very unhappy, if you tried.

When we had a house on the beach near Issara, we went down on the beach near fence across sand by palace, to fly a kite with the niece.

We got stopped and questioned by irate guards. :cuss:

Luckily an officer who used our coffee shop came out and recognised us, so all was OK for us to continue but even fishing off that beach is banned, as are private boats within the exclusion zone.

Hate to see anyone put into the BKK Hilton.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

You would be alright as long as you did swim around it, but I think the maritime one extends out to those warships off the coast!
