Murder of Dane in Cha-am

Post by caller »

This has been reported on other threads but not here. The victim owned a small business and was, I guess, known to some of the ex-pat community locally?

The information appears to come from a couple of sources and one detailed report, at least.

It seems odd that what appears a wanton act of violence has gone unmentioned on these pages?

A farang is murdered by a group of Thais. Only Thais and Thai police are aware it happened and somehow local media did not get it or chose not to report it.

My wife keeps up the news and will always tell me if there is anything anyway involving a farang in the area. However not a word. Something like this should have been major local news.

A conspiracy of silence here I suspect.

You're all wrong.
It's a major issue on another board for Thailand and has been for 4 days or so.
This is a difficult subject to discuss, so please can posters make sure that there is some substance to the thread.

I saw it on other boards but with no attribution to any news source just a "created by soandso" note at the bottom.
Anybody see anything in a credible medium like The Nation or BKK Post?

I raised this because, as many of you live there, I assumed you would have heard about it?

And in my first post, I meant "forums", not thread.

It seems odd that those most likely to know about this are so unaware and it does make me wonder if its true - I hope it isn't.

Surely, those of you living there who come from scandanavia would have heard, at least - as he and his Thai wife must have friends and its still quite a small community? The victim couldn't have lived such an isolated life, surely?

Its not my intention to be alarmist..........

UK tourist dies in Thailand robbery Dec 25 2005

A British tourist died after being attacked in Thailand by a gang of would-be robbers.

The Foreign Office named the victim as James Edward Hall from Sunderland.

Thai police said the 57-year-old was set upon by men who planned to steal cash - believed to be some 150 euros (about £102).

Mr Hall's body was discovered near a bungalow on Chang Island's Sai Khao beach on Christmas Eve.

Lieutenant Supin Naoprakson said the three Thais arrested - two aged 18 and one 20 - had previously worked as labourers for Mr Hall, who was building a property on the island..............
