Police clarify seven Koh Tao death cases
Police and administrative officials have taken a proactive approach to restoring the reputation of Koh Tao by clarifying the details of investigations into the deaths of seven foreigners over the past three years.
In a briefing at provincial police headquarters on Friday, senior officers gave details about all six cases, involving seven deaths in total, since 2014. It was attended by the police liaison officer of the Belgian Embassy as the latest case involves a Belgian woman.
The tourist island has come under a harsh spotlight since reports emerged two weeks ago about the death of Elise Dallemagne of Belgium. Her mother cast doubt on the local police conclusion that the death was a suicide, and the investigation has been reopened.
Of the six other cases, five have been solved, said Surat Thani police chief Pol Maj Gen Apichart Boonsriroj, who detailed them one by one.

This is for people who cannot speak for themselves or have no clues when come to visit Thailand.
Next visit, don't bring beautiful girlfriends along; moreover, it is best not to provoke locals by showing an affectionate in public "no kissing in public anywhere in Thailand" Southern Thailand, most locals are Muslims, and they don't like to see tourists are being too happy in night on the beach, on any islands/ beach in southern Thailand. Peace and Serenity to all visitors. Have a good day.

So if one has a beautiful girlfriend, he/she should travel alone? Doesn't sound right to me. Although, I agree with your comment on showing too much affection on public places. Still, even this doesn't stop the chaopho and nakleng being what they are.don't bring beautiful girlfriends along

I can see one logical explanation
If you are in a traffic accident, it is the farang's fault, because if the farang was not in Thai the accident would not have occurred.
Same,Same--- If the farang had not gone to KT they would still be alive therefore it is their fault that they are dead.

10 ARRESTED FOR SHARING KOH TAO NEWS
At least 10 people are in custody for sharing claims on Facebook that a British tourist was sexually assaulted on Koh Tao, an attorney representing them said Wednesday.
Though the police officer in charge of the investigation initially said the arrests would be made today, the 10 were seized yesterday, lawyer Winyat Chartmontri said in an interview. He also called the charges against them premature, saying police have yet to establish their motives.
“I believe – no – I’m sure that they didn’t violate the laws,” Winyat said, adding that the cybercrime law only forbids sharing information one knows to be false. “They expressed their opinion with sincere intentions. I don’t understand why police came up with this charge.”
All told, 12 people were slapped with arrest warrants after they reportedly shared posts from CSI LA, a self-styled investigative Facebook page that has published reports about the alleged rape. Police were also closing on two others at the time of the interview, Winyat said.
In a Tuesday interview, deputy tourist police chief Surachet Hakpan said investigators had established that no rape occurred on June 26 as the victim and CSI LA alleged. Police is seeking the page’s admin is being sought by police, though he is believed to live overseas.
Winyat criticized the arrest warrants, saying police could have first brought them in for questioning.
“The important question is, did the admin know it was a false claim, and did the people who shared know it was a false claim?” the lawyer said. “Even police don’t know what is false in this case. Was the woman raped or not? She insist she was.”
He added that the 10 are being sent to a police station on Koh Tao, where Surachet will hold a news conference and decide whether to take the suspects to court for a custody hearing or release them on bail.

Thought: You have to admire the "police" in this country who spend more time arresting people using the internet than those committing the crimes.

Be careful when sharing stories about our government. But of course everything they say is true.

This young lady who was robbed and raped, was more interested to enjoy the full moon party, instead of file rape charges.
She preferred finish her holidays and back to UK she pretended to be raped. Strange story.

I have read about 5 pieces in the Bangkok post over the last week about this story, but nothing that provides any more evidence of the girl being a liar than there is evidence that the guy she is accusing is a rapist. That's why we have trials in court of law and not in the media. I would not accuse the Thai guy of rape, no, because I have no evidence. But where is your evidence she is lying? You were the one who categorically stated she was lying, so where is your evidence? And please don't point me to a bunch of old men sitting behind their computers pretending to be Sherlock Holmes, that's gossip, not evidence.

If true, why did she go straight to the full moon party instead of reporting a rape to local police ? She reported only robbery, just to be repaid by her insurance. We have seen a lot of bitches pretending to be raped after having consensual sex with other farangs.MDMK wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 6:51 pm I have read about 5 pieces in the Bangkok post over the last week about this story, but nothing that provides any more evidence of the girl being a liar than there is evidence that the guy she is accusing is a rapist. God forbid it ever happen, but if I was raped in Thailand, I am pretty sure I wouldn't go to the police. It wouldn't mean I wan't raped, it would just mean I don't trust the Thai police enough. And if I see how they have handled this case, it just confirms how I have always felt. If they had just come out and said something along the lines of "we have no reports and no evidence whatsoever of a rape having taken place" that would have been fair enough. It's what any police force in any normal country would have done. But this chasing down of people commenting on it on the net, and blacklisting... it just makes the Thai police look stupid.europtimiste wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 7:22 pm

As for people not reporting rape at the time it happened.... come on....wake up....use an ounce of common empathy.... just look around the world... the Catholic Church.... Harvey Weinstein....Jimmy Savile... Rochdale child abuse scandal.... there are numerous valid reasons why some rapes don't come to light for years.
But as I suspected, you have zero proof whatsoever that the girl in question is a liar. Fine, that's all i wanted to know. You're repeating rumours and guessing. It's as stupid as me saying "I categorically know the Thai men did rape her". None of us KNOW anything.

She left for UK with a T-Shirt and gave to the British police for DNA test, as she didn't trust to Thai police, OK and whats then ? Why didn't she come back to file complain at Koh Tao police with the result of DNA. She would be escorted by Bangkok police and I am sure would not be killed.MDMK wrote: ↑Wed Sep 05, 2018 7:39 pmGod forbid it ever happen, but if I was raped in Thailand, I am pretty sure I wouldn't go to the police.
