That's the point they do think "bad driving/riding" is normal and acceptable. Thai's totally accept that people will die, every few weeks my wife tells me of another of her extended family who died in a road accident and she feels this is how it is. There is little great remorse when someone dies as Thai's believe you will be reborn even if only as a dog.

My wife continually tells me to only think of myself when on the road and to make sure I am safe and not worry if others get hurt as that is their problem. By the way she is usually telling me this while speeding and talking on her phone. I have given up trying to get her or the daughters to drive properly, wear helmets etc. You will not get through to most Thai's as they cannot be wrong.

Fully agree but thankfully I did get through to my wife through our son.

Since he has been old enough to ride pillion with others I have insisted that he wears a helmet and of course there are implied penalties if he doesn't ( grounding, pocket money, sleep overs etc)

He now accepts wearing a helmet without question.

I had tried, to convince my wife wear a helmet with a 50/50 success rate. My young son took over the challenge and by his childish negotiation skills has succeeded where I failed and she now also wears one whenever she goes out on her scooter.

Bristolian - that's good to hear I wish I could have the same success on my end.
