another annoying one--I have a friend who does not drink alcohol, thats just fine he orders water in te bars and then bitches like hell that they charge 50b and its only 10b in 7/11. I point out that my beer that costs 100b in the bar is 35 in 7/11 so his mark-up is less than mine.

^^I assume maths isn't your strong subject. It's not really mine, but even I can work out that your mark-up is under 300%, while his is 500%. Next time, let him bitch.

It must be low season when these discussions show up in the Forum

Mark up is usually calculated in percentage terms. The value of the mark up is used to calculate the gross profit margin in percentage.
But I see your point. The gross profit is greater for the water as is the mark up.

Back to the original topic. I don't know this man so I am not defending him in any way but who are you to complain about him! He is maybe a war hero or someone who has given a lot to society and for one reason or another is now short of friends and/or money, A cheapskate is someone that has money but refuses to spend it. Someone NOT having money can NEVER be called a cheapskate. Check your facts before starting a post like this. There are many, many pensioners living in Hua Hin that cannot really afford to live here.

Ah, the backlash.

So, you are not defending him, but you are defending him.

Yes maybe he saved an entire village from being raped and killed (even though he's only between 35 and 45, I pixellated his face so that's not obvious). And maybe he retired VERY early because he's too poor to ... what?

Your assumptions although well-meaning are way off the mark. Unless he's been given the keys to Hua Hin for some marvellous act, as you suggest, I think he should drink his drink in reasonable time and move on.

So the guy is a dipstick but the OP hides behind an avatar to public slag him off and take the piss on a local social media without confronting him. Have a poll and who the dipstick is

Pay attention. I said I confronted him about it. And it's a bit rich for you to hide behind a pseudonym and criticise me for criticising someone while doing the same.

You have a right to disagree with me, but not to insult me. I will politely not say what I think of the little I can discern of your character.

However as a general comment, I'd forgotten how bitchy these expat forums can get. Yawn....

Are you incapable of accepting that maybe YOU are wrong and the majority around you might be right.

London Boy and his cheerleader (you) comprise a majority? Anyway the manager was certainly not unhappy that I spoke to the 'customer'. That's enough for me.

TBH I'm bored with this now.

Don't know the buy, but if you asked him that question and he has not changed his
behaviour. I would say he is a jerk.

People sitting in bars and spending very little money. There are 2 conflicting attitudes by the management,
1 If he is not going to spend any money I wish he would leave. 2 Its better him sitting there than having an empty bar.
