How Was Your Day in Thailand Today?
So, I woke up late and rode my bicycle to school. I knocked back a bowl of noodle soup (I chose 'Yen Ta For' today) to get me on my way washed down with a few xanax to take the edge off of what was in store.
I sat and watched a load of 18 year olds doing a test that they may as well not do as they are all going to pass anyway.
We all got to go home early as it's a multiple choice test (yes - multiple choice... they are 18) so I decided to go for some laarb and wash it down with a some chang...
I thought I'd stare at the cool elephant roundabout that I live next to for a bit...
After that, the rain came down so I decided to stare at the tower roundabout...a little further from the elephant roundabout.
Then I went home.
Life in Thailand really get's your mind a wandering. It's a place where you can truly let your imagination run wild.
So... What did you good folk do today?

That they do...
This forum has got silly now. It has died it's death. Unfortunate turn of events. I shall try for a few more days but, I fear, your time is done. You have no posters. No debates. I'm trying to create something for you but - nothing.
What the hell happened? It's worth nothing in it's current state.
I feel for you... you put a lot of hard work in to this.

How Was Your Day in Thailand Today?
I personally enjoy it on a daily basis.
I don't want to get into arguments where people are able to hind behind a Username, I ignore the points that I don't agree with and am grateful for the information that is relevant to what I need.
I used to visit The ThaiVisa forum but got sick of the smart arse know it all's on there.
This forum, bar a few (and getting less) is free from the bored nonsense that some spout out in an attempt to get a reaction.
Long live the forum.

GLCQ: I think you need to get out more and maybe get yourself a girlfriend.
Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

Could not agree more.

Been here for 13+ years and used to be very active on this forum. I still look a couple of times a day and I'd agree that it is informative. You can find out where to get a good cup of coffee and where to buy a tin of soup. However in years gone by, it was a very vibrant forum with 'good' and 'bad' debates. Many devil's advocates which stimulated your thought processes. I'll continue on the forum but it's 'not like the old days'.

Gawd, this topic is taking over everything.HHTel wrote:Been here for 13+ years and used to be very active on this forum. I still look a couple of times a day and I'd agree that it is informative. HHTel, a forum is only as good as the sum of it's parts! If there is a problem, you are inadvertently part of it. For all GLC's whingeing and moaning, he's starting a few threads, creating new topics. How about you do that, rather than rely on others?

Re: How Was Your Day in Thailand Today?
And actually, going back to the OP, my day was pretty crap! I'm in Bangers for a week as the other half is attending meetings here, but not today, today she had a day off and she was in a London mood.
So after brekky, we got a cab to a place called London Street, which is a stupid miniature pastiche of Westminster Palace and a sort of lookalike Big Ben with half a dozen restaurants inside, a 'mock-up' of a London bus, a real black cab, a few union flags and an underground sign and map.
Ten minutes later we got another cab to Gateway at Ekamai. Why? Because a new 'attraction' has just opened on the top floor called 'Snow Town'. Basically a big rink with artificial snow and nice cool temperatures, surrounded by eating places. The kids were loving it, with toboggans and things. I don't think they're aware of snowball fights though.
Next, a train to On Nut and another cab to a place called, wait for it, 'Pickadaily'! I mean, FFS, who creates this stuff? Another pastiche of English buildings I guess, with some sort of tower and at it's centre, a mini version of Eros, It's basically a shopping mall that must be about 85% empty. They even have displays of plastic fruit and flowers. The day was just getting better and better.
Then another taxi to take us to some outlying BTS station as the traffic was too bad to head in. Then a quick sojourn to the hotel, before heading off for more shopping - bliss! This time to a place called 'Thaiasiatique' on the banks of the river, which we had to cross. We never made it, we got to the BTs station needed for the river crossing but en route the heavens had opened - there must be a God after all - and the rain was so heavy that said lady decided not tonight Josephine and we headed back without ever leaving the sanctity of the station. So, by this time both starving, we stopped at Siam and ended up in the food hall, so at least the food was cheap(ish). Then it was back to the hotel, where I am sat writing this.
And that my friends, is how to live the high life in Bangkok! Thankfully she's at work for the rest of the week!!

Re: How Was Your Day in Thailand Today?
^ Caller, you've got Bangkok all wrong. We used to go up there for 3 nights about 4 times a year mostly for medical related stuff but we always made the trip longer just for the break in the "big city". When we weren't doing medical things we kissed goodbye at the hotel doorway in the morning and then got back together in the late afternoon or evening for drinks and dinner.
During the day we each went our own way, which meant shopping for her, and searching for photo ops, fun activities, good watering holes, pubs, sports bars, and lunch spots for me. I think I've had a pint or two in every pub and sport bar on or near Sukhumvit from Soi 2 to Soi 63 and eaten in nearly all the good restaurants in that stretch.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: How Was Your Day in Thailand Today?
You didn't read me right HHF, I have the next three days to myself - heaven!
We actually come to Bkk about twice a month on average for her work (she works for the Mall group) but it's usually for 1, 2 or sometimes 3 nights. It's not often she's here for a whole week and even less often that she takes any time off whilst here. But there was no meeting today.
I come to just be somewhere else and to have a break from Korat really, which isn't the most exciting place around, although now I have my own wheels, things have got better. But I enjoy my breaks in Bangers with Madame working, or when we come for the footie (Chelsea the other week), which is different. We're off to watch the Korat Swat Cats tomorrow night, my first away game in Thailand. But the day's are mine!

Technically off topic as today was yesterday, but since you posted after midnight and are therefore actually going to the game today rather than tomorrow, I suppose that makes you technically on topic again. Carry on...
This is the way

If this topic stays on topic and doesn't devolve into another rant about the forum we'll move it back into the main section.

Apologies Lev... there was no need for that remark from myself. Just hoping for a few more posts/threads coming along. I thoroughly enjoy using this site. So hope some more frequent posts can start coming again.Lev wrote:Maybe the posters have used that marvelous "ignore mode" feature on you.GLCQuantum wrote:That they do...

This morning I decided to use on of those colourful exercise machines dotted around Thialand...(not actual picture)
^ Don't use them - they're beyond crap.
Then I stood to attention for the Thai National Anthem. "Da Da Da Daa Da Da Da Daa"
Please move back to 'life in Thailand'....
