When nosy expats ask how can i live here without working, i reply, 'well, while you worked hard for 50 years, i worked smart for 5 years'

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

I am very happy with Hua Hin, so I'm easy.

Would never live in Florida having been there a couple of times.
For me it would have to be Hua Hin.

Re: Where would you live if you could?
I have to agree about Florida. Jacksonville (I think that's Florida), we couldn't get a beer without first showing our passports to prove our ages. Yes, some of our party refused to carry their passports on a night out - they didn't get a beer.
Buying a round of beers in a Miami nightclub, the bouncer pulled a gun on me because I was trying to pay with a $100 bill.
I've never had either problem anywhere else in the world (OK, there's a lot of places I haven't been).

Have been to Maiami Tampa St Petersberg and Disneyville. Didn't have the passport drink problem as they would have to be blind to think me underage. The Everglades and the Keys are worth a visit but not to live.
The highlights for me were Cape Canaveral Space Centre and swimming with wild manatees.

I'd actually split my time between the far west (Penwith) of Cornwall, Sunshine Coast area in Oz and Thailand. Gotta mix the rough with the smooth.
Talk is cheap

Having prompted the OP to expand this thread I guess I'm duty bound to respond
Well I'm not sure It a choice of the following:
Up-market motor-home roaming western USA
Kariba - Zimbabwe
Inland from Nice - France
Positano - Italy
Hermanus - South Africa
Kanchanamburi - Thailand
Now if I had the dosh it could be all six.

Re: Where would you live if you could?
With Mrs migrant we will be choosing Thailand, not sure yet what city, will try a few renting before we look to maybe buy.
Thailand is my second choice, first would be a Central American country, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, etc.
For me I understand the language better, food good, nice ocean etc.
But with an old GF there mrs m wouldn't agree.
Also if here in the states it would be Maine, lots of woods, land available at a good price, but too cold for the missus!! She gets cold at 75 degrees (F)

The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

Re: Where would you live if you could?
Elementary, my dear Watson: I could live just about anywhere on this Earth. I live in Hua Hin because I choose to live here, not because I could not live somewhere else.
"There's no plausible or convincing reason, certainly no evidential one, to believe that there is such an entity (= deity) and that all observable phenomena, including the cosmological ones... are explicable without the hypothesis; you don't need the assumption."

I wouldn't choose USA until they stop treating their "special relationship" UK ex-pats like terrorists
