The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

dtaai-maai, thank you for reminding me that one of the year's nicest happenings is again fast approaching. The Espoo Beer Festival at the Gallows Bird Pub. This year the theme is Merseyside beers. Can't wait, fortunately it's only three weeks away from now. Wonder if I should try three days this year?

This one's not so much a recommendation as a warning...

Went there on three days. Very nice brews my favourites were Penny Lane, Winter Ale and Mat Hat E.S.B. Old Hall Smoked Porter was surprisingly nice for a porter. Managed to sample all ales/bitters except the 80 Shillings which ran out before I got my hands to it. Only wish we had more of these kind of festivals but then again, the drinks are quite expensive. €4 for half a pint, isn't cheap.

The festival is here again. This year's theme is Great Western Real Ale Festival and the beers come from Hampshire, Wiltshere, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Gloucestershire (Bristol) and Glamorgan (Swansea). I had my first five samplings yesterday, all nice two very nice. Now that the weekend is around, I will be able to do some serious sampling.
