Not wanting to make on OT to a good thread, I'll have this here. Big Boy wrote in Thai national health insurance for foreigners:
"dtarng dao" (ต่างด้าว) which is usually no longer used for foreigners as a whole (it used to be) but now they take it to mean Lao, Burmese or Cambodian. Apparently the term "dtarng chart" (ต่างชาติ)
Isn't this called evolution? From "dtarng dao" (ต่างด้าว)" i.e. "alien, extraterrestial" to "dtarng chart" (ต่างชาติ)" "foreigner." The neighbours are still considered to be aliens, though.
