Only the US police can shoot someone in the back, preferably when they are unarmed with their hands up.
But to get away with that the perp has to be black or hispanic... :P
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

And it saves on coffin expenses too!!

Nitschke's 'Suicide Machine' Draws Crowds at Amsterdam Funeral Fair

"A controversial suicide pod that enables its occupant to kill themselves at the press of a button went on display at an Amsterdam funeral show on Saturday.
Called the “Sarco”, short for sarcophagus, the 3D-printed machine invented by Australian euthanasia activist Philip Nitschke and Dutch designer Alexander Bannink comes with a detachable coffin, mounted on a stand that contains a nitrogen canister.

“The person who wants to die presses the button and the capsule is filled with nitrogen. He or she will feel a bit dizzy but will then rapidly lose consciousness and die,” said Nitschke. The Sarco was a device “to provide people with a death when they wish to die,” Nitschke said.

The inventors put a model of the device on display, together with a set of virtual reality glasses to give visitors a true-to-life experience of what it would be like to sit in the pod, before ultimately pressing the button.

Nitschke said he aimed to build the first fully functioning pod before the end of the year.

After that, the design will be put online as an open-source document for people to download. “That means that anybody who wants to build the machine can download the plans and 3D-print their own device,” Nitschke said."

Has it been tested? Any volunteers? Money back guarantee? The cost of 3D printer would be prohibitive. It sounds like suicide for the rich. At least if your Catholic you no longer will go to Hell, so that might be an incentive to save your money for a machine.

Fruit causes gas scare at Vic uni library

https://au.news.yahoo.com/fruit-causes- ... --spt.html

Stinky fruit has led to the evacuation of a university library in Melbourne's CBD.

Traffic was disrupted around RMIT University on Saturday as around 600 staff and students cleared the building amid fears of a gas leak.

Specialist crews wearing masks searched the building for the source of the smell, which turned out to be rotting durian left in a cupboard.
A Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokesman said the smell had alarmed staff and students as it permeated the air-conditioning system.

The waste will be dealt with by Environment Protection Authority officers.

Durian is a tropical fruit known for its strong smell.
It is commonly banned from hotel rooms and public transport in southeast Asia.

Excuse me, can I just borrow your credit card?

WATCH: Amazing footage of crow 'trying to use credit card'

https://au.news.yahoo.com/watch-amazing ... 31539.html

Stunned passengers watched the black bird climb onto the automated machine and was instructed to hit a button to make a payment.
Perhaps realising the machine needed payment, the bird can be seen strolling over to a snatch a woman’s credit card, then waddle back with the plastic in its beak to have a go at completing the transaction.

The thieving bird ignores the woman’s request to return the card, and momentarily appears to try to and insert the card into the machine, at Kinshicho Station in Tokyo, Japan.

Despite its best efforts, the bird’s attempt to ride the train was unsuccessful and it returned the card to the woman, who even thanked the creature.

The Twitter video has been viewed more than 2.88 million times, liked by more than 107,400 people, and has been shared more than 54,200 times.

Crabs riding on train cause peak-hour chaos

https://au.news.yahoo.com/bizarre-creat ... 02673.html

A commuter has caused a scene on a train in Canada after bringing four live crabs onboard and giving them their own seats.
The bizarre scenario took place in Toronto during the afternoon peak hour rush and was documented by several passengers on social media.
One woman, Kristine Hughes, posted her account of the extraordinary scene on her Facebook page, which quickly went viral.
“There was a man sitting on the subway on my way home the other day with 4 live crabs sitting on the surrounding seats,” she wrote.
“Pretty casual stuff on a jam packed train.”

She went on to recount how one woman almost sat on a crab and quickly gave the man a piece of her mind.

According to Ms Hughes, the woman yelled: “What is this? Crabs on the seats? So no one can sit down? All these people standing here tired after working all day?”

“Then she smacked each crab off the seats so hard that they landed in someone’s lap and on another person’s feet and stormed off.

“Everyone was just standing around, holding their breaths, waiting to see how this guy was going to react,” Ms Hughes wrote.

The man accused the woman of assaulting the crab, and also of assaulting the woman who was hit by the flying crab.

“Then he just picked up the crabs, which are currently flaying around on the floor, and put them back on their seats,” Ms Hughes wrote to finish off her post.

Toronto Transit Commission spokesperson Brad Ross said he had never seen anything like this before.
“People have complained that they’ve gotten or seen crabs on the subway before, but not the crustacean type,” he joked to the CBC.

“We know that crabs do not belong on seats, they belong in buckets,” he said. “Even if those crabs come with some hot drawn butter and a bib, you can’t put crabs on a seat.”

On a more serious note, the spokesperson said there was a report made over the crabs and added there were also concerns for people who are allergic to shellfish.

“I’d like everybody to just get along,” he said. “Leave your crabs in the bucket.”

Toronto police spokesperson Gary Long told CBC that bringing crabs on public transit is not illegal and police would not be investigating.

Thailand at the forefront of space exploration
Durian in space: Thailand to send smelly fruit into orbit.

Imagine being trapped in a spaceship with the world's smelliest fruit.
Thailand's space research agency (does it really have one?) has just announced plans to send durian to space by July, as part of a project to produce Thai food suitable for future space travel.
The baked durian will stay in space for five minutes before coming back to Earth, where scientists will see if it has undergone any textural changes.
Durian, known for its strong, stinky smell, is native to South East Asia.
According to local media reports, the fruit will be launched into space via a rocket made by a US company.

Space, the proper place for Durian. Better in a rocket than in a taxi.

Woman arrested for riding horse to pub while drunk

https://au.news.yahoo.com/woman-arreste ... 05135.html

A woman has been charged after allegedly riding a horse to a pub while drunk.

Police arrested the 51-year-old woman after she rode the horse from Marsden, in Brisbane’s south, to the Logan City Tavern and allegedly recorded a blood alcohol level four times the legal limit.

Officers from Springwood attended the tavern on Wembley Road at Logan Central around 11.30pm Monday night, in relation to a woman refusing to leave the licensed premises.

“Upon arriving at the business the female allegedly rode the horse through the drive-through section of the tavern and appeared heavily intoxicated,” police said.

Officers walked the horse back to Logan Central Police Station where the woman allegedly provided a positive BAC of 0.226 per cent.

Council workers assisted in walking the horse back to a Marsden address.

In footage released by Queensland Police, officers can be heard telling the woman, seated atop the animal: “It’s the same as driving a car; you can’t ride a horse over the legal limit.”

The woman was charged with being in charge of a horse whilst under the influence of liquor.
She will appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 26.
“Police want to remind the public that drink driving does not just mean a vehicle, it can include a horse,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
(ps: the 'orse was released without charges)

Let this be a lesson as I know some chop a snake from time to time out of necessity. Pete

Texas man nearly dies after being bitten by severed snake head https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44392861

A Texan required 26 doses of anti-venom after he was bitten by the severed head of a rattlesnake he had killed.

Jennifer Sutcliffe told local station KIII-TV that her husband was working in the garden when he saw the four-foot (1.25m) rattlesnake and decapitated it.

When he picked up the snake's remains to dispose of them, the head bit him.

A snake's bite reflex can be triggered up to several hours after it has died. Ms Sutcliffe told KIII-TV her husband immediately began to have seizures.

He was airlifted from his home near Corpus Christi to hospital where he was treated with the anti-venom CroFab.

More than a week after the incident, the man is reportedly in stable condition, with some weakened kidney function.

Leslie Boyer, an anti-venom doctor at the University of Arizona VIPER Institute, warned against attempting to kill snakes, particularly by cutting them.

"It's cruel to the animal and it leaves you with a smaller piece that's venomous to pick up," she told the Gizmodo news site.

Enough of this hiking crap:
………………………………………………………………………………………..
It's a mountain lie-in: Massive dog rescued after collapsing on hike

https://au.news.yahoo.com/mountain-lie- ... 58708.html

A 55 kilogram dog has gained a small fan club after he found a clever way to get out of his afternoon hike.

The Great Pyrenees named Kato became a bit dehydrated and decided he had done enough hiking on Sunday, leaving it up to his humans to get him him back down Maxwell Falls in Colorado.

But given his sheer size, Kato’s owners were forced to call in reinforcements to get the exhausted pooch safely down the treacherous trail.

Evergreen Fire and Rescue said they did not hesitate responding to the emergency call once they heard there was a tired doggo, racing up the mountain and using the same stretcher they use for humans.

As photos show, the emergency workers couldn’t help but grin as they carried a visibly tired Kato down to the base of the mountain.

While he may not have been able to complete the intended route, Kato apparently did become the “spirit animal” for several social media users who shared the dog’s attitude towards hiking.

If you are planning on taking your dog for a hike, you should always ensure that it has plenty of water and proper foot protection, the emergency workers warned.

The officers said dog owners should never take their dogs on a hike if the weather is too hot and always ensure that they start off on smaller hikes to build up their endurance.

They said it may even be worthwhile to get your pooch some sunscreen if it has light skin or thin fur.
