‘No cool crap in your ear or nose’: Perth man’s advertisement for apprentice strikes a chord on Facebook

https://thewest.com.au/news/wa/no-cool- ... b88514833z

The owner of a Perth air and refrigeration business says he has been overwhelmed with applications, after posting an ad for an apprentice on Facebook - telling young hopefuls not to apply if they intended having “cool crap in their noses or ears” or calling in sick in birthdays.

Kim Allen from Allen Air and Refrigeration told Gareth Parker’s Mornings program on Radio 6PR his most recent apprentice had been excellent and left for his own reasons but he had bad experiences in the past.
He said the response to his ad had been so strong that he was on the verge of having to take it down.

“Got some kind of cool crap in your nose or a hole in your ear? Forget it - go join the circus.”

For luck’s sake: coins tossed in engine delay flight

http://www.flightsafetyaustralia.com/20 ... ys-flight/

A passenger flight in China was delayed for nearly six hours after an elderly woman threw coins into its jet engine for good luck.

The woman, named by China’s Xinhua news agency as an 80-year-old Ms Qiu, threw coins into the engine while boarding flight CM380 operated by China Southern Airlines yesterday. Other passengers spotted her behaviour and alerted the crew.

The 12.40 pm flight, from Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Guangzhou Province, was delayed for more than five hours while the airline inspected the engine. It took off at 6:16 pm.

Police later found nine coins at the site, including one in the engine, Xinhua reported. Their total value was about A$0.40, Shanghai Daily reported. There was no report of damage to the aircraft. Xinhua said Ms Qiu had been cleared of mental illness and had no criminal record.

I read that headline this morning and before reading the article I knew it had to be in Thailand or China...

Woman busted at German airport with cocaine implants in her breasts

https://thewest.com.au/news/offbeat/wom ... b88524724z

Customs agents in Germany randomly chose a young woman from among an airport crowd for a closer inspection. Then she started complaining about a pain in her breasts ...

The busty traveller from Colombia was being subjected to a random check at the Frankfurt airport.
But, as agents took the 24-year-old woman aside, she began to grimace. Then she double-over in pain, clutching her breasts.

Curious customs agents were surprised when they saw she had swollen fresh scars from a very recent operation. The sutures had been very poorly applied.

They became suspicious.

In increasing agony, the 24-year old soon revealed all.
She knew she’d been busted.
She admitted her excessive implants were actually bags of cocaine.

The woman was taken into custody, and transferred to a nearby hospital.

They removed two 500 gram blocks of cocaine -- wrapped in plastic -- from her breasts.
The up-front street value of her internal cargo was estimated at $A500,000.

"This is the first case in Germany in which drugs have been smuggled in this fashion," customs spokesman Hans-Juergen Schmidt told reporters.

The poor quality of her breast surgery showed the "completely indifferent to human life and the life-threatening conditions of their drug carriers," he said.

Two partygoers shot while ‘having sex’ in Melbourne nightclub

https://thewest.com.au/news/australia/p ... b88531033z

Two partygoers have been shot by police while “having sex” at a swingers ball after what may have been a fake gun was pulled on officers.
A man, dressed as the Joker, and a woman suffered gunshot wounds in the incident at Melbourne nightclub Inflation on King Street shortly after 3am on Saturday.

The club was hosting a Saints and Sinners Ball, an erotic fancy-dress party described on its website as a “no holds barred extravaganza of adult fun”.

The nightclub owner confirmed the man was in a “compromising position with his female” at the time but refuted claims the man was armed.

“Venue staff have stated that the male victim was not holding anything in his hand but rather he was in a compromising position with his female partner, which is a normal activity with the nature of this event,” Ms Tsamis said on Facebook.

Jesus (pardon the pun) is there anyone that doesn't hold a gun in the US - and obviously prepared to use/threaten with? Frightening really......

US Priest Pulls out Gun in Florida Road Rage Incident

"A North Carolina priest faces assault charges after he pulled out a gun in a road rage incident, officials say.
They say the priest, William Rian Adams, was driving near Palm City in Florida when a pick-up truck that had been following his Chevrolet Corvette closely tried to overtake him.
Mr Adams, 35, then "pointed a semi-automatic hand gun" at the two people in the other vehicle, police say.
The priest was arrested on Friday after the victims reported the incident.
He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill."

This guy actually lives locally to me, so has regularly been in the (local) news. The poor bugger has been made broke - these do-gooders/PC Brigade shoud be bloody shot IMHO. :cuss: :banghead:

"THE final decision on whether a monkey or a Gwent photographer will win copyright over the animal’s selfie could be deferred for another two months.

Naruto the monkey made headlines around the world when he inexplicably took his own picture using David Slater’s camera in an Indonesian jungle in 2011.

A lawsuit filed by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) claiming the copyright for the image belonged to the ape, following the publication of the image in a book by Mr Slater, was originally dismissed last year, but they lodged an appeal.

The case was listed to go before the US Court of Appeal yesterday but could now be deferred for up to two months, Mr Slater confirmed.

The case was due to go to be in court at 6pm UK time and 10am San Francisco Time on an online live stream.

Judges are yet to make the final decision on who the copyright will be awarded to with no indication of re-listing.

Mr Slater, from Mathern near Chepstow, was unable to travel to America for the case as he was not able to secure a visa beforehand but was represented by his attorney.

Speaking ahead of the expected decision, the 52-year-old said he hoped the court “decides wisely” and was “confident” that the case would be kicked out of court.

He added he also felt “strangely nervous”.

Speaking after the case was deferred again, he said: “My attorney has been in touch and we’re very optimistic that we’re going to win.

“There was no judgement made immediately and the case was dismissed. We’re going to have to live with it.”"

Child protection commission investigate kissing scenes reported as ‘pornography’ in Justice League cartoon shown on Garuda Indonesia

The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) is investigating a citizen’s report that there is “pornographic content” being shown in a kids’ cartoon on national carrier Garuda Indonesia’s in-flight entertainment.

According to reports, the cartoon in question is the DC superhero team up series ‘Justice League’, which is one of 14 shows available for children in the current line up of Garuda’s in-flight entertainment on both domestic and international flights.
Maybe I'm too open minded, but I am not offended by this, and certainly wouldn't have banned my son from watching when he was younger.

Man rescued in toy dinghy 1km off English coast

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/world/1 ... lish-coast

This guy had no clue at all it appears. Just floating about having a good time.  Video at link.
___________________________
LONDON -- A carefree sailor has been rescued from his toy dinghy more than 1km off the coast of Redcar in north east England after being dragged out to sea by strong currents.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution said the unnamed man, carrying a paddle and wearing shorts and a hooded jumper, risked his life as he could have drifted much further in his inflatable raft on Monday evening.

"When the lifeboat arrived last night the crew asked him why he was there as you heard on the video, and quite honestly he thought he was having a great time and was going to be fine," RNLI Redcar Lifeboat Operations Manager Dave Cocks said on Tuesday.

Lifeguards said the incident highlighted the need for more people to respect the water."

Seagull rips off man’s testicle as he sunbathes naked

A rogue seagull ripped off a man’s right testicle as he sunbathed naked in his back garden, it has emerged.

Experts say the fearsome bird mistook the man’s exposed privates as a couple of birds eggs and dropped in for a tasty snack.

As the man – who has not been named – dozed on his patio in his detached home near Ipswich, the seagull swooped from the sky, and with one bite of its beak ripped away the right testicle.

He woke screaming in agony, and saw the bird flying away with one of his ‘crown jewels’ wedged in its yellow beak.

His wife called an ambulance, and staff at Ipswich Hospital’s accident and emergency department had to patch him up, and give him a course of antibiotics to prevent infection.
