Turkey supplies to Thailand 2017

Post by PeteC »

What is the word on the street and from supply sources this year? Are USA turkeys still banned from import or has it been lifted? Nothing on the internet that I can find for this year. The Holidays will be upon us before we know it and many will be looking to buy a bird. None of the top end shops in Pattaya have anything yet, but I remain hopeful. You'll see a roast bird from time to time as part of hotel weekend buffets, but not often. Pete

:D Nice.

No they're circus turkeys, specially trained for clowning.

For two people who don't want turkey a la king/curry/sandwiches for 8 months, are decent-sized turkey breasts usually available? The one pre-prepared in a foil container that just needs heating in the oven. Maybe I should start another thread but if we're talking turkey.... :)

There has been very little in the way of real turkey here for 2 years now. I'm just glad that I'm not a great lover of turkey.

The look of Thai turkeys puts me off. Scrawny looking beasts, with no breast.

Some good news for the Holidays. Villa and TOPS here in the East are now filled with frozen turkeys. Villa = Norbest and TOPS = Butterball. I guess the embargo is over, at least for now. Pete

If you have great stuffing (Dressing in US) great gravy, whole berry cranberry sauce then it a treat but turkey meat itself is very bland, very boring.

A friend of mine solved the Turkey problem by purchasing a few of them to raise among his chickens. This Thanksgiving we will be culling one of the birds for our meal.

But did he buy Thai turkeys? I'm not a great lover of turkey, and would definitely not eat Thai turkey - just the appearance puts me off - they look quite scary.
