The staff in the resteraunt I could see, the Thai cook came out and explained she was alone in the kitchen and that's why we had to wait so long.

I think he as been pushed to one side now, Sam the owner has brought in a new chef and they are trying to sell chinese as well last time I was there I spoke to sanjay and he wasn't very happy with the situation he wanted me to talk to sam about how much it as changed since they moved from town

We have eaten at Zafran since it moved to Take 5 in Khao Takieb a number of times. While service can be a little slow the food has always been excellent. It's converted my Thai wife to agreeing to eat Indian - which she has never really enjoyed before. Sounds like a bad night and would suggest giving it another try. I would also not let the review put anyone off trying Zafran and making your own minds up on the quality of the restaurant. Also think the jibe of a "Tourist Trap" is unfair. The prices are very reasonable and lots of local farangs eat and drink there. It's a great place to have in the neighbourhood IMO.

I hope that has been resolved, because it could explain a lot.

Sajed is the head chef, cooking Indian food, 2 thai chefs make Chinese and simple European food.
I think we will get a good ending to this, thanks to owner and customer being sensible :).

My friends and I had an equally horrible meal on a Wednesday night. It was extremely slow even though only one other table in the place, they forgot to prepare my meal until I asked if it was coming soon after waiting for an hour, brought me the wrong dish twice (!) and forgot my tasteless nan after asking four times. I have some baht left on a gift card but I'll probably just throw it away, lesson learned.

Along with several others, I have enjoyed many extremely good meals at Zafran at different locations including the new one in Khao Takiab.

I agree that it is always possible to have a bad experience at any restaurant including the most exclusive and expensive.

Whatever Nokyai's experience on the night, I am pleased that he is planning to talk with Sam and I look forward to a resolution without any further adverse comments.

I must say that I was very disturbed to see one of our 'impartial' moderators thanking Nokyai for his comments as he was planning to eat there soon and presumably isn't going to now. Congratulations Nokyai, you are obviously a well respected critic. I was once criticised by the same moderator for writing a GOOD review of a local restaurant !!

Comments about Tourist Traps etc are beneath contempt especially as this is a locally owned restaurant.

Ditto the comments about the staff. And, Yes, I know I wasn't there on the night but the staff are the same as before and I have always found them very welcoming, cheerful and, above all, helpful.

We should always be prepared to complain when service and quality is below par. I am sure that Sam will do whatever he can to find an amicable solution.

I'm sorry to say that I have not been contacted by anyone from the resteraunt despite JW's kind efforts to try and negotiate a meeting. I'm flying back to the UK for 6 weeks today so I'll just have to rack this up to being unlucky. It does sound from other comments that this it a bit of a hit or miss place and they need to work on their consistency.

I'm sorry the OP had such a dismal experience. I wasn't there that night, but I understand that there were extenuating circumstances (drunks in the bar!) and amends were made. Personally, I have always found the staff pleasant and accommodating.

I had lunch at the new location a few days ago, and, though I personally regret the move, the important thing is that the food remains unchanged, which means that it's excellent, certainly the best Indian food that I have tasted in Hua Hin.
