Mine was the last post in this thread which seriously discusses 'Pies in Hua Hin'.

I also like the home made pies at Burgers & Beer in Market Village, although you can't buy them to take home, as far as I know. They go well with a beer and a gander at the passing population.

But nothing and I repeat nothing I've bought here come close to a Fray Bentos tinned Steak & Kidney pudding (bought from Nany's, AP Interfoods, Villa Mart or wherever). OK it's not a technically a pie, but....

But the Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney pies have gone right down the pan. They're now know as 'Gravy Pies'. My family always bring me some from the UK but the last batch were awful. My daughter went online to complain to Fray Bentos and found there were literally hundreds of complaints about the same thing. The picture on the tin looks good but the filling is gravy.

Not trying to upset the bias brigade, but it is my belief that there is more steak and kidney in one of the small HHH&B pies than you'd find in a regular sized Fray Bentos pie. Mind you, the crust on a Fray Bentos was to die for :D

I have to say that the best pork pie I have eaten in Thailand is one of these. From Central / TOPS.

Had Fray Bentos mince and onion pie (230 Baht) today with potatoes and peas, lovely when cooked just right. No need to bring from overseas they are available right here in HH, numerous places.

Yes I know they are here at 5 times the price. (they're a quid in the UK) The steak and kidney pies have literally hundreds of complaints. I'm not the only one. My daughter took a picture while she was here and sent it to Fray Bentos along with the picture on the tin. Not at all the same.

I don't have the S&K but at 43 Baht it would be good value. The M&O was good.

Last week I paid 170 Baht for FB steak & kidney pie at Nany's on Soi 88, large puddings were 175 (and superior!). They were cheaper a couple of weeks ago, apparently.

I must check the FB at Nany's as I bought from HHH&B, I wonder if the exported ones are not as good as the UK ones.

forgive if I am wrong but I though this topic was about UK pies,

are Fray Bentos products not of Uruguay decent.

also you would not want to know what goes in these pies, they used to corn beef pies during WW2 , made of a cows head only

You are wrong on all three counts. Also, do you know how to use the Internet?

I can use the internet, Baxters have only had the rights to the fray bentos name since 2011, it was purchased by after the office of fair trading forced the previous owners to sell it.

They started off in Uruguay in a town called " Fray Bentos "
and it gets worse, the actual idea and funding was originally provided by a German.

they only started producing in the UK after 1968 ish , due to change of government in Uruguay.

Now feel free to say sorry for accusing it of being Bull.
