What is this fruit?

Post by lomuamart »

I bought some fruit last night and I havn't got a clue what there were.
They were the size of a mangosteen, the same colour and the same hard skin.
However, they definitely weren't mangosteens. Very sour to the taste but then sweet. My wife called them "soursomethingorother".
One of the best fruits I've tasted here.
Does anyone know what they are? I've tried to look on the internet but can't find them.

Can you post a photo or are they all gone?

Here's some on passion fruit. it comes in dark and yellow skin. I used to grow it in Hawaii. A vine fruit and takes over your property in one growing season! Pete

That's right lomu, I remember now - they tried to get me to try it, saying it was like apples and custard, but I'm not that adventurous

Big Boy, you should try that one. It is sweet and delicious. The missus calls it Noi-na and never knew the English name for it so I called it the hand grenade fruit because of the similarities in appearance to the WWII era American version of that weapon. My wife is a fruit monster. In fact fruit was one of our largest daily expenditures while in Thailand as I think she ate at least a kilo per day of various fruits. The upside of that was that I think I tried every fruit that grows there and the one you mentioned above was one of my favorites. It has a pretty short season so we always bought them whenever they were available. The ones we bought in Hua Hin were like the green one pictured. I never saw a red one.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
