Nichchapa restaurant

Post by REEM »

A Recommendation.

Nichchapa restaurant, opposite the main entrance to Wat Bor Fai. (soi 6, over the tracks, cross the lights, first right at the Mini Mart - 7/11 corner, and about 100-150 meters to the temple, the restaurant is on the right opposite the entrance to the temple.)

Ive been twice to this garden restaurant and have been impressed both times.

There are eight or nine tables in salas in a the large garden area.

Run by a Thai lady who was a chef in an international hotel before starting up here, she offers a comprehensive menu of Thai and Western dishes.

Attractively presented, generously portions, friendly service and very very good value for money.

And most important of all, the food, whether Thai or Western, is delicious.

Open evenings only.

I myself have not eaten there yet, but a few of our neighbors have recommended it to me. I must admit, the setting looks very pleasant, especially one of the waitresses.

There are also two other smallish places further along the same road which seem to get a fair share of customers, although they are not exactly in the same league. As I've said, both tend to get far more customers than the place opposite the temple, but my guess is its because they offer cheaper meal options. The first of these two do offer some western dishes, while the next one along the road caters almost entire for Thais there are always a few Farang in there when I drive past. During the lunch hour period, the place literally gets mobbed, so they are clearly doing something right. It is also quite a pleasant setting, and a nice place to sit and have a coffee or a beer. Good prices and good food.

If none of these three venues please you, just continue up the road and enjoy a great meal in a very beautiful setting at Kor Sor.

Nichchapha Restaurant

Post by Houdi »

Hi,

I just wanted to make people aware of a great restaurant in Bor Fai called Nichchapha Garden Restaurant. It is located directly opposite the Bor Fai Temple and serves both Thai and European Food.

Since discovering it a couple of months ago we are now regular visitors and have recommended it to a number of our friends who have all been very happy with the quality of food and service.

The chef's name is Pon and I believe she is also the owner.

Details are as follows.

Tel 092 998 1910 (Thai & English)
Open 11am to 10 pm Closed Tuesdays
Free WiFi. Can cater for parties. External catering also available
Directions: Take either Phetkasem Road or Canal Road to Soi 6; at the traffic lights on the Canal Road go across the bridge over the canal and turn immediately right. The restaurant is located about 300 metres further on the right.

If it's in that thread it is basically lost (unless somebody wants to wade through 29 pages of posts on the offchance) - that thread is for news. This is a point I have been making repeatedly.

Went today. Nice afternoon visiting the temple and having lunch. 150 Baht for a good Penang prawn curry. I ordered medium spicy and should have ordered spicy. Will post a pic of the dish later.

The wife and I were the only ones there around 1PM.

Gave this place a try this evening - 2 small problems:
especially one of the waitresses.
My son was looking out for this, but obviously not on duty tonight :D
European Food
If we were looking for European food, we'd have been disappointed. Very little European food on offer. Not a problem though as we're all happy with Thai food.

Outside of the above, I concur with everything said. Nice food at good prices in a garden setting. There were several other groups in the garden, but they were not really apparent to us whilst we were enjoying our meals. We'll definitely be going back there.

Hi all
We have been to a new restaurant across from Wat Bofai, at the time of writing it has no name in English.
Good prices and good food and that's from our Thai friends as well as us.
The owner has worked as a chef for the Hilton group in a few amazing places, the setting is pleasant, a few things like coffee and deserts and ice cream lacking but only open for 3 weeks, give it time.
Regards.
Ps guinea pigs for the kids to look at, different!
