As BB said, Thai food doesn't feature on their menu, however knowing how accommodating Dr Dewan is, I'm certain they will be able to provide some Thai dishes. As for strength of the curries, three of us went for 80% and the "wimp" of our group settled for 60% and none of us had a problem with the heat. Although we had a smoke coil and were provided with a bottle of mosquito spray, I would still prepare yourself before you go as eating outside in the garden (which is a great setting) certainly attracts the little blighters.

I don't think the mosquitoes are the problem at the moment. Not just Shiva, but any outside restaurant must have a problem with swarming termites at this time of year.

Although there were so e mossies around, they were far outnumbered by the termites, but fortunately neither spoiled the evening, as for the 90%, my wife originally asked for 100%, but after advice from Dr Dewan, she cut back to 80%, same as my son and myself and they were just about right for our tastebuds.

Don't try to be a macho man - enjoy your food.

Different kind of 'hot' to Thai food. The old man recently knocked up a pot of chilli con carne. Barely spicy but the Step mum thought it was too hot yet she'll happily wolf down a bowl of som tam with a handful of chillis in it.

Regarding Shiva, good food but I prefer not too be bothered at the table, with tales of grandiose delusion, while I'm eating with family.

Couldn't agree more, I find the owner arrogant and overbearing. Would go more often - maybe he has a day off!!

I do take the point about too much contact while eating (that was one of my main problems with Terrace 90), although that hasn't been a problem for me at Shiva, apart from a polite enquiry (should I be offended? Am I being ignored?), but 'grandiose delusion'? 'arrogant and overbearing'? In my opinion, very unfair and not my experience at all. A very pleasant, well-intentioned man with charming staff, even though their language skills are limited! But that's all part of the fun for me.

On one of our visits, Mrs D-M spotted a trailing plant she rather fancied. We asked Dr Wotsit if we could take a cutting, and he offered to bring us a potted version the next day.

By a long way, my best 'reasonably priced' eating experience in this area.

I'm with D-M, admittedly Thursday night was very quiet so he had time to talk to us, but to me he was showing interest in his customers and making sure they had everything they needed and were enjoying their meal. Now some people might consider that a bit overbearing, but definitely not arrogant IMO.

Yes. My girlfriend loves Indian food, and she has never once found it too spicy. Neither have any of the other 3 Thais I've been with. So, while I'm not doubting the experience of you and others, it's certainly not a 'without fail' situation.
