Jaidee Resort / Sweet Chillie restaurant

Post by Tunafish »

beware of this place.
The food is ok, but the drinks are overpriced, but what really pissed us off
is that that charged 40 Baht for hot water to refresh the tea which my wife
had previously ordered. And that I consider to be outright theft.
Why not charge extra if I put sugar in my coffee???

Ther are so many good restaurants in and around HuaHin, it is difficult to
understand why they try stunts like this. Total stupidity.
And we were the only customers there, you would think they would try and
please their customers, not piss them off!

Did you let them know how you felt about being charged for hot water?

Absolutely not my experience, although I have never ordered extra hot water for tea. The team (Dutch guy and his Thai wife) are superb hosts and the food is really very good indeed. You are not going to get street food prices but it's an up-market place - without being stuck-up - and we visit there each time we're in Hua Hin since our house is not too far away and haven't had a bad time yet.

Well you get charged for ice in most restaurants here, and water... so it wouldn't surprise me so much.

40bt does seem steep - if I get charged more than 20bt for a bottle of cold water in a restaurant I never go back. Don't know what the precedent is for hot water though; I don't drink hot drinks.

This place has now closed down. We went past this evening and it was all shut-up with no sign of life. Inside the locked gates it all looked a bit disheveled. Some poking around on Trip Advisor suggests it has closed under a cloud - does anyone here have further detail?

It's been a favourite restaurant of ours for the past six years, not least because it's close to our house, so it's a shame to think it's all gone wrong for them.
