Internet advice

Post by Ken »

House hunting next week so would appreciate some advice as would like to get internet set up at home. If no phone line, how easy is it to get organised and how do you go about it? Also what is the best ISP and how do you get signed up. All advice will be welcome. Many thanks

getting online

If you want to use dialup which is the most economically viable option at the moment you need a land line from the house. This can take anywhere from 2 days to 6 weeks to install depending on how much money you pay TOT or TT&T  Not sure on prices, the landlord should sort this out but you may have to pay extra.

ISPs are nothing great here, one of the better ones are CS Loxinfo (also the most expensive). Alternatives are Roynet, Anet, Inet, Pacific and JI-net. I use a 30 day unlimited access package by Pacific for 349 baht, the only drawback is it uses the 1222 number and is sometimes difficult to get on to and shockingly slow when it rains.

There is a thread here with varied opinions:

The access cards can be purchased in any internet cafe or computer shop and are simply re-filled when the time runs out. You can only use TOT (1222) packages with a TOT phone line and likewise with TT&T.

There is an article on connection in Hua Hin here:

Hope this helps :thumb:
