No games, no videos or pictures....i only have 3 apps (skype, tv (sorry) and British airways)
I'v looked at removing stuff that was built in on the system manager but it says the computer won't work properly if i remove anything that was on there to begin with.
What's the current size of your HD and how much space is it reporting being used?

An external USB drive can only really be used for storage. Programs like those from Adobe (everyone calls them “apps” these days!) need to be installed on the same drive as the OS so won’t work from USB.

Goodness knows where all your space has gone but buy a 2.5” internal 500GB drive from invadeIT on Soi 6, take it to Mr Don and ask him to install and do the transplant from old to new drive.

Go to your Desktop and right click on "This PC" you will then see your drives and usage. Note once you transfer to an external drive you then need to delete from your laptop to free space. Ensure it copied correctly before deleting.

285baht, that's amazing
285bt for a 2Tb flash drive is 100% scam. It'll work up to its genuine capacity (probably 2Gb/4Gb) then after that all your data will be corrupted. The listing appears to have been taken down now; no surprises there.

As for increasing space... While it's not possible to increase the capacity of the original drive, there's no reason why a shop couldn't take to old drive out, and clone the contents onto a bigger, higher capacity drive.

It does sound really screwed.

Unless you have a worldwide warranty or are prepared to take it back to the UK, Mr. Don is a good start I think, so many people recommend him for honest opinion and good work.

This is a very weird situation. I know you know nothing about PCs but I fail to see anything other than a hardware or Windows fault at this stage (or user error :D ).

As you have no data on it to lose I suggest reinstalling Win 10 from the backup on the lappie itself (Asus isn't a premium brand but it will be there). Mr Don could do it for a few baht I guess if you can't. At least that will rule out a system error. Then maybe it's a hardware faoult, dodgy disk maybe.

Without seeing it I cant give any more advice.

PS - British Airways have a PC application? :)

As I've said, Mr Don would get you sorted for 400 Baht - I don't know why you're bothering yourself.

Shame it's a UK warranty, a 6 month old Asus should have a decent sized disk (maybe not huge but enough for what's required here).

My daughter bought an Asus earlier this year, and out of the box it was slow as treacle. Not sure if she took it back.

The drive should contain 2 partitions out of the box nowadays, and they are confusingly named C and D 'drive'. "C" is large enough only for the operating system (OS), swap file, a copy of an old OS if you have upgraded, and other files which programs install that need base level access to the OS. The fact that the OP can only see one drive is confusing.

And yes as I said above, installing a program on an external drive is very dodgy unless it's designed to run from external media. Heavyweight stuff like Photoshop is definitely a nono.

And yes I also had to delete 'app' and type 'program' above too! :D

Actually there may be multiple partitions, but normally only one or two visible to Windows, namely C and often, D. I have seen laptops sold with only a C drive visible. If the OP could go into Disk Management he could see exactly what partitions he has. One way to get to disk managment is:
1 Right click on start (windows icon in bottom left of screen, on task bar)
2 Click on Disk Management.

In the lower part of the disk management app window there should be a description of Disk 0, showing the actual size of the disk. This entry will include the C drive (may show as "OS (C:)". What else is there? Any unused space?

OP please note that C drive and D drive are not actually physical disk drives, but (normally) refer to "partitions" on the same physical disk drive.

I'm now thinking of buying an external hard-drive so as to download and store adobe stuff on.
Unless it will be better to get a shop to put a new internal hard-drive in?!
So far none mentioned using compressed folders that can save disk space. This may result in the slight derogation of system responsiveness, or may not. The saving much depends on the number and type of files. You may give it a try on a few folders (keep away from OS and hidden folders) and see the result. However, upgrading or using external drives are more effective solutions - hardware is cheap.

Most Adobe stuff aren't 'portable', simply not supposed to run on external drives (by policy & design). But that's only wishful thinking - they can and do, in great numbers.

In any case, if you want to get more than just sensible but generic suggestions (and less fluff), you should specify the laptop model (Vivo, Zenbook, FX, whatever?) and the details of the hard disk, together with the used space reported in Win.

No, don't reformat.
Firstly, you need system drive created to have everything Asus needs. It will have different components inside then what vanilla Win 10 comes with. It might take hours to gather what is needed from the net (drivers, updates, patches). You would have to supply Win 10 licence or media. The shop is almost guaranteed not to have what you need.

When I bought Asus laptop for a student in family in Bangkok, the salesperson told me I was the only one ever seen to buy legal Win 7 (year 2012) for 3,000 THB. Everyone is using cracked 100THB versions, the laptop came with Free DOS only.
They did not know how to sell it, never seen it before nor they knew there was 5 days limit after installing it to activate with Microsoft, after that pfooof. And it had to be installed and registered from Asian IP address, I could not take it to Australia and do it there.

How big is the drive? If you have filled it up so quickly, may be SSD (no spin) and they come as 164GB - 200GB.

As for drives C: and D: on the same device, the D: drive is for internal accounting of Windows, don't use it. And it is, at least on my Win 10 desktop PC peanuts, only 20GB (out of 1,000 GB = 1 TB).

Desktop: 64 bit Windows 10 Pro.

Laptop (Lenovo T440s) does not have that D: drive. Win 10 64bit Enterprise.
