CTH

Post by Toonmad »

I received a ticker tape type message on my tv last night informing me that CTH would be closing all it's services to all it's customers from Sept 1st.
I do not want to go back to True as I think it is far too expensive. Can anyone suggest any alternatives. Someone I know mentioned an android box and someone else an Amazon tv firestick. Anyone any experience of these or other possibilities?

Depends what you want to watch.

If it's sport especially EPL then Ilikehd is the best option at 250 Baht per month. They have UK TV channels in a package also but I've not used them so I can't comment. There are other options like Expat TV which I used for a couple of years but a bit more expensive but won't break the bank.

I use a set top box and get UK STV (ITV) and BBC for free so that gives me enough terrestial TV and movies can be downloaded from many sites to watch at your leisure.

I'm sure other users will give their views and there are other threads on this topic.

I use a MAG254 box £70 on Ebay
Use two portals Gobox which has catchup TV pause and play all UK channels including SKY this costs 22 euros a quarter
and stalker TV this is 80 dollars a year has every world wide channel along with 5000 movies on demand
The stalker can be a little intermittent yet the Gobox is excellent.
Need internet connection of over 3mps to run the box

I don't know if you get all these services over there or not, but I have a cheap android box (functions as a full android pc with bluetooth mouse and keyboard) and aps for Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime video (and music). That's a lot of TV, movies, and music to stream for about $30 per month.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

For about 2 years now I have been using filmon.com its a free app. For UK tv it essentially has the freeview channels. Also has US, Canadian tv. I have a samsung tablet and an LG smart tv. I simply go to the channel and then "cast" it to the TV. Hate to admit it but love my evening live bargain hunt fix.

A friend has just returned to 'True' he's got the sport only package.
He reckons, he paid 1000 for installation and a monthly fee of 500 baht!

Thank you chaps for the incormation given. I checked out ilikehdtv and it looked as though it will cover my needs. Only need to sort out which of the dozens of pa kages will be best. I think I may also have to check out true and thsir sport only package. 500 baht seems prstty reasonable.

If 500 Baht with True includes all the EPL channels it's a very good deal as the clones like 365 sport charge more than that although people may re think their subscriptions now that True has the EPL rights again for 3 years in the same way subscribers left True when CTH had the EPL rights.
I have to pay my True internet next week so I will ask the question and probably switch from ilikehd.

so i was wondering how much one "point" costs on ilikehd?

they don't tell you how much their service costs.

anybody know?

also no customer service or contact page.

edit:
ilikehd got back to me in 15 mins. 1 point is 1 baht. why not just say that in the first place?

James, their support is first class. I've emailed them at 11 pm on a Saturday night with connection issues and they always reply within minutes.

I've been talking with someone today, he thinks that the 'sport' package might not be all it claims to be.
He's got the full Platinum package with 4 beIN channels and reckons the other packages are only getting 1 beIn channel!
